Lake County, IL. – A Waukegan woman was sentenced to 14 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for causing a four-car crash that left two dead.
In addition to prison time, Leticia C. Delgadillo, 39, of Waukegan, was ordered by Lake County Circuit Court Judge Victoria Rossetti to spend 2 years on mandatory supervised release after she is released from prison. Under law, Delgadillo is required to serve 85 percent of the 14-year prison sentence before being eligible for parole.
Lake County State’s Attorney Michael G. Nerheim said, “This was a tragic situation that could have easily been avoided had Ms. Delgadillo simply not made the choice to climb behind the wheel of an automobile while she was impaired. While we did our jobs and ensured that justice was done, no prison sentence will be able bring back the lives of Jose Socorro Arroyo-Zavala and Laura Orozco Corona. Our condolences continue to go out to the family and friends of the victims.”
Delgadillo was granted 331 days credit against her imposed prison sentence because of the time she has already spent in Lake County Jail since her arrest Aug. 28.
