Pide Verson Township lugares seguros para evitar posible robo de boletas.

Buffalo Grove, IL. – Vernon Township pidió hoy a la Junta del Condado de Lake que instale un sitio de recolección seguro en el lugar de votación anticipada en Vernon Township.
“Es el consenso de la Junta del municipio de Vernon que los lugares móviles para dejar el voto por correo y las boletas ausentes son un componente esencial para garantizar una elección libre y justa en noviembre”, dijo el supervisor del municipio de Vernon, Jonathan Altenberg. "Esto es aún más crítico dado el reciente anuncio del Servicio Postal de los Estados Unidos de que no puede garantizar que las boletas emitidas por correo para las elecciones de noviembre lleguen a tiempo, posiblemente descalificando los votos".
“La continua crisis del COVID-19 está creando temor entre nuestros ciudadanos de estar presentes en los lugares de votación físicos tanto durante las sesiones de votación anticipada como el día de las elecciones”, continuó Altenberg. “Los continuos intentos de la Administración Trump de socavar las operaciones básicas del Servicio Postal de los EE. UU. durante las elecciones tienen a muchos en nuestra comunidad temerosos de que su voto por correo no se cuente si los residentes usan el Servicio Postal de los EE. UU., que podría tener una capacidad limitada o inexistente. La integridad misma de nuestra democracia depende de la capacidad de voto de nuestros ciudadanos, y esta capacidad está en duda”.
Debido a estas preocupaciones, la Junta de Vernon Township solicita amablemente que se instalen sitios de recolección seguros en todos los lugares de votación anticipada, incluido el edificio William E. Peterson Park de Vernon Township, con las siguientes estipulaciones:
· Los sitios de recolección seguros están fijados de forma segura al suelo o al edificio para evitar robos.
· Los sitios de recolección seguros están cerrados de manera segura para evitar alteraciones.
· El sitio será monitoreado electrónica o físicamente durante ciertos horarios de entrega.
· El sitio seguro de recolección permitirá a los ciudadanos enviar sus boletas sin tener que dejar sus autos. (Es decir, un sistema muy parecido a un buzón de correo postal).
· Las urnas se vacían y aseguran diariamente al cierre de los lugares de votación durante la votación anticipada y el día de las elecciones.
Vernon Township brinda servicios a los residentes en todas o partes de las aldeas de Buffalo Grove, Indian Creek, Lincolnshire, Long Grove, Mettawa, Mundelein, Riverwoods, Vernon Hills, la ciudad de Lake Forest y Vernon Township no incorporado.

They fear sabotage of electoral polls
Vernon Township today called on the Lake County Board to install a secure collection site at the early voting location in Vernon Township.
“It is the consensus of the Vernon Township Board that mobile drop-off locations for vote by mail and absentee ballots are an essential component of guaranteeing a free and fair election in November,” said Vernon Township Supervisor Jonathan Altenberg. “This is even more critical given the recent announcement by the U.S. Postal Service that it cannot guarantee ballots cast by mail for the November elections will arrive on time, possibly disqualifying votes.”
“The continuing COVID-19 crisis is creating fear among our citizens to be present at physical polling places both during early voting sessions and on election day,” continued Altenberg. “The Trump Administration’s continued attempts to undermine the basic operations of the U.S. Postal Service during the election has many in our community fearful their vote by mail ballots will not be counted if residents use the U.S. Postal Service which could have limited or non-existing capacity. The very integrity of our democracy hinges on the ability of our citizens to vote, and this ability is in question.”
Because of these concerns, the Vernon Township Board is kindly requesting that secure collection sites be installed at all early voting locations, including Vernon Township’s William E. Peterson Park building, with the following stipulations:
·The secure collection sites are securely affixed to the ground or to a building to avoid pilferage.
·The secure collection sites are securely locked to avoid tampering.
·The site be monitored either electronically or physically during certain drop off times.
·The secure collection site will allow for citizens to submit their ballots without having to leave their cars. (I.e., a system much like a postal mail box.)
·The boxes be emptied and secured daily at the close of polling places during early voting and on election day.
Vernon Township provides services to residents in all or portions of the villages of Buffalo Grove, Indian Creek, Lincolnshire, Long Grove, Mettawa, Mundelein, Riverwoods, Vernon Hills, the City of Lake Forest, and unincorporated Vernon Township.
