Police intervene and stop fight

Gurnee, IL. – The Gurnee Police Department requested assistance from multiple nearby law enforcement agencies to break up a fight and assist with crowd control at a local theme park. Gurnee Officers received reports of the fighting around 7:15 PM on Monday, May 29, 2023. Witnesses claimed the fight started between two groups inside the park, near the front gates, and spread to the parking lot.
Officers, already located at the park, quickly intervened to stop the large crowd fighting. Initial attempts to disperse the crowd were unsuccessful, prompting a Gurnee Officer to deploy OC Spray into the disruptive crowd. As the fighting continued, the Gurnee Police Department requested assistance from multiple nearby law enforcement agencies.
Officers from nearby agencies responded to the scene, including canine teams from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office and the Gurnee, Waukegan, and Zion Police Departments. The additional law enforcement presence aided in dispersing the crowd. Six people were taken into custody for battering other patrons and police personnel. Those arrested included:

An 18-year-old from Zion, Illinois
A 16-year-old from North Chicago, Illinois
A 15-year-old from La Porte, Indiana
A 14-year-old from La Porte, Indiana
A 17-year-old from La Porte, Indiana
A 17-year-old from La Porte, Indiana
Three of arrested individuals were transported to Condell Hospital for minor injuries and were released from the hospital the same night. Charges are still pending in this case.
Four Gurnee Police Officers sustained minor injuries during the incident. Three officers received medical treatment at the theme park from the Gurnee Fire Department, and one Gurnee Officer went to the hospital after the scene was secure. The officer was released from the hospital the same night.
