Fox Lake, IL. – El Distrito de Protección contra Incendios y el Departamento de Policía de esta localidad respondieron a la Ruta 12 de IL entre la Ruta 59 de IL y la Ruta 134 de IL, por un accidente de tránsito de dos vehículos con heridos, el jueves 24 de agosto de 2023, aproximadamente a las 9:40 p.m.
La investigación preliminar mostró que un Cadillac SRX negro viajaba hacia el sur por la Ruta 12 en los carriles hacia el norte. El Cadillac chocó contra una camioneta de trabajo Ford, que viajaba hacia el norte por la Ruta 12. Ambos conductores tuvieron que ser rescatados y transportados al Centro Médico Advocate Condell, donde el conductor de la camioneta Ford fue declarado muerto en la sala de emergencias. Según la gravedad del incidente, se solicitó la ayuda del Equipo de Asistencia en Accidentes Mayores (MCAT) del Condado de Lake para ayudar en la investigación.

Grave accidente en Libertyville
Agentes del sheriff del condado de Lake respondieron a un accidente de tráfico con heridos en la Ruta 137 en la Ruta 45, en la zona no incorporada de Libertyville, el pasado 25 de agosto.
Los agentes del sheriff llegaron y localizaron a un motociclista con heridas críticas.
La investigación preliminar muestra que un sedán Chrysler 2010, conducido por un hombre de 26 años de Round Lake Beach, viajaba hacia el este por la Ruta 137. El conductor del Chrysler intentaba girar a la izquierda en la rampa que conduce a la Ruta 45. El conductor del Chrysler giró a la izquierda, directamente hacia el camino de una motocicleta Yamaha modelo 2010 en dirección oeste, conducida por un hombre de McHenry de 56 años. El conductor de la motocicleta no pudo evitar la colisión y chocó contra el Chrysler, lo que provocó que saliera despedido de la motocicleta.
El conductor de la motocicleta fue transportado al Centro Médico Advocate Condell en Libertyville con lesiones críticas que ponen en peligro su vida. El conductor del Chrysler no resultó herido. El accidente sigue siendo investigado por la Unidad Técnica de Investigaciones de Accidentes de la Oficina del Sheriff del Condado de Lake.
Investigan un incendio sospechoso
El 23 de agosto de 2023, agentes del sheriff del condado de Lake y el distrito de protección contra incendios de Antioch acudieron a la cuadra 26200 de West Forest Court, en Antioch, por un incendio. Una persona que llamó al 911 informó que escuchó una explosión y vio la casa de su vecino en llamas.
El Distrito de Protección contra Incendios de Antioch extinguió rápidamente el incendio. Hubo daños importantes en la casa y dos vehículos estacionados afuera de la casa. El propietario no se encontraba en casa en el momento del incendio y no había nadie en el interior.
Se encontraron pruebas en la casa que indican que el incendio es de naturaleza sospechosa. Los investigadores de incendios provocados del Sheriff están trabajando con el Distrito de Protección contra Incendios de Antioch y la Oficina del Jefe de Bomberos del Estado para avanzar en la investigación.
Fatal Fox Lake traffic crash
On Thursday, August 24, 2023, at approximately 9:40 p.m., the Fox Lake Fire Protection District and Fox Lake Police Department responded to IL Route 12 between IL Route 59 and IL Route 134, for a two-vehicle traffic crash with injuries.
Preliminary investigation showed a black Cadillac SRX was traveling southbound on Route 12 in the northbound lanes. The Cadillac struck a Ford work van, which was traveling northbound on Route 12. Both drivers had to be extricated and were transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center, where the driver of the Ford Van was pronounced deceased in the emergency room. Based on the severity of the incident, the Major Crash Assistance Team (MCAT) of Lake County was requested to assist in the investigation.
The Lake County Coroner’s Office was notified.
The deceased has been identified as 21-year-old Anthony Herrera, of Wauconda. On Friday, August 25, 2023, an autopsy was conducted at the Lake County Coroner’s Office. Preliminary results of the autopsy indicate that Anthony Herrera died from blunt force injuries as a result of the crash. The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Fox Lake Police Department and MCAT.
Serious Libertyville crash
On August 25, 2023, Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a traffic crash with injuries on Route 137 at Route 45, unincorporated Libertyville. Sheriff’s deputies arrived and located a motorcyclist with critical injuries.
Preliminary investigation shows a 2010 Chrysler sedan, driven by a 26-year-old man of Round Lake Beach, was traveling eastbound on Route 137. The driver of the Chrysler was attempting to make a left turn onto the ramp leading to Route 45. The driver of the Chrysler turned left, directly into the path of a westbound 2010 Yamaha motorcycle, being driven by a 56-year-old man of McHenry. The driver of the motorcycle was unable to avoid the collision and struck the Chrysler, which caused him to be thrown from the motorcycle.
The driver of the motorcycle was transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with life-threatening, critical injuries. The driver of the Chrysler was not injured. The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit.
Investigating suspicious fire
On August 23, 2023, Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies and Antioch Fire Protection District responded to the 26200 block of West Forest Court, Unincorporated Antioch, for a fire. A 911 caller reported they heard an explosion and saw their neighbor’s house on fire.
Antioch Fire Protection District quickly extinguished the fire. There was significant damage to the home and two vehicles parked outside the home. The homeowner was not home at the time of the fire and nobody was inside.
Evidence was located in the home indicating the fire is suspicious in nature. Sheriff’s Arson Investigators are working with the Antioch Fire Protection District and Office of the State Fire Marshall to further the investigation.
