Lake County, IL. – Agentes del sheriff del condado de Lake investigan un accidente que dejó a un hombre de 38 años en estado crítico la madrugada del lunes 19 de junio de 2023, aproximadamente a las 6:20 a.m.
Agentes fueron enviados a la intersección de la Ruta 45 y la Ruta 173, Old Mill Creek, por un accidente de tráfico entre un automóvil y un camión con heridos.
La investigación preliminar muestra que el conductor de un camión, un hombre de 64 años de Round Lake, viajaba hacia el norte por la Ruta 45. El conductor del camión cruzó la intersección de la Ruta 173 con luz verde. Mientras avanzaba por la intersección, un BMW en dirección oeste, conducido por un hombre de 38 años de Schaumburg, desobedeció la luz roja y se impactó debajo del remolque del camión. El conductor del BMW parece haber viajado a gran velocidad y tuvo que ser sacado del vehículo y trasladado en helicóptero al Centro Médico Advocate Condell con lesiones críticas que amenazan su vida. El conductor del semirremolque resultó ileso.
Justo antes del informe del accidente de tráfico, los agentes respondían a la misma área por un informe de un conductor imprudente que operaba un sedán BMW. La investigación adicional reveló que el BMW involucrado en el accidente era el mismo vehículo investigado por ser conducido imprudentemente. El deterioro por alcohol parece ser un factor para el conductor del BMW.
El accidente sigue siendo investigado por el Equipo Técnico de Investigaciones de Accidentes de la Oficina del Sheriff del Condado de Lake.
Car versus Semi-Truck Traffic Crash
Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies are investigating an early morning crash that left a 38-year-old man in critical condition.
On June 19, 2023, at approximately 6:20 a.m., sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the intersection of Route 45 and Route 173, Old Mill Creek, for a car versus semi-truck traffic crash with injuries.
Preliminary investigation shows the driver of a semi-truck, a 64-year-old man of Round Lake, was traveling northbound on Route 45. The driver of the semi-truck proceeded through the intersection of Route 173 on a green light. As he was proceeding through the intersection, a westbound BMW, driven by a 38-year-old man of Schaumburg, disobeyed the red light and drove directly under the tractor-trailer of the semi-truck. The driver of the BMW appears to have been traveling at a high rate of speed.
The driver of the BMW had to be extricated from the vehicle and was flown via medial helicopter to Advocate Condell Medical Center with life-threatening, critical injuries. The driver of the semi-truck was uninjured.
Just before the report of the traffic crash, deputies were responding to the same area for a report of a reckless driver, operating a BMW sedan. Further investigation revealed the BMW involved in the crash was the same vehicle called in as being driven recklessly. Alcohol impairment does appear to be a factor for the driver of the BMW.
The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Team.
