Zion, IL. – El miércoles 10 de enero de 2024, a las 19:31 horas, el Departamento de Policía de Zion respondió a un informe de disparos en la cuadra 4200 de Barberry Lane, en Zion. Los agentes llegaron y encontraron a un hombre de 20 años tirado en el estacionamiento del edificio de apartamentos con heridas de bala. La víctima fue transportada por el Departamento de Bomberos y Rescate de Zion al Vista Medical Center East, donde a pesar de la atención y el tratamiento, la víctima sucumbió a sus heridas y fue declarado muerto en la sala de emergencias. El Grupo de Trabajo contra Delitos Mayores del Condado de Lake acudió al lugar para ayudar en la investigación y la oficina forense del condado de Lake fue notificada y respondió al hospital.
El fallecido ha sido identificado como Willie Wright Jr., de 20 años, de North Chicago. El jueves 11 de enero de 2024 se completó una autopsia en la oficina forense del condado de Lake. Los resultados de la autopsia indican que Wright Jr. murió a causa de múltiples heridas de bala.

Zion Homicide Investigation
On Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at 7:31 p.m. the Zion Police Department responded to a report of shots fired in the 4200 block of Barberry Lane, in Zion. Officers arrived and found a 20-year-old man lying in the apartment building parking lot with gunshot wounds. The victim was transported by the Zion Fire and Rescue Department to Vista Medical Center East, where despite care and treatment, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead in the emergency room. The Lake County Major Crimes Task Force responded to the scene to assist in the investigation. The Lake County Coroner’s Office was notified and responded to the Hospital.
The deceased has been identified as 20-year-old Willie Wright Jr., of North Chicago. On Thursday, January 11, 2024, an autopsy was completed at the Lake County Coroner’s Office. Autopsy results indicate that Mr. Wright Jr. died from multiple gunshot wounds.
The Zion Police Department and Lake County Major Crime Task Force continue to investigate the homicide. Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call the Zion Police Department at 847-872-8000.
