Agentes del Sheriff del Condado de Lake y el perro policía Simba frustraron un robo en curso durante la noche, con la ayuda del propietario de la propiedad.

Lake County., IL. – El 5 de julio de 2026, aproximadamente a las 11:20 p.m., el Centro de Emergencias 911 del Sheriff del Condado de Lake recibió una llamada de una persona que había alquilado un remolque de plataforma a alguien que no lo devolvió. El propietario del remolque tenía un dispositivo GPS e informó a los operadores del Sheriff que el remolque se encontraba en un negocio en la cuadra 14200 de West Rockland Road, en Libertyville (zona no incorporada).
Agentes del sheriff respondieron a la llamada y observaron a dos individuos, Corey Dismukes, de 56 años y residente de la cuadra 3800 de West Arthington Street, Chicago, y Emmanuel Harper, de 45 años y residente de la cuadra 6200 de North 84th Street, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, cerca del remolque, mientras cargaban dos minicargadoras en el remolque. Los agentes investigaron y determinaron que Harper y Dismukes estaban robando las minicargadoras.
Posteriormente, los agentes revisaron las grabaciones de las cámaras de seguridad del negocio y determinaron que un tercer individuo huyó justo cuando llegaron. El perro policía Simba, de la unidad canina del sheriff, rastreó al tercer individuo y lo localizó a aproximadamente 2.4 kilómetros de distancia, escondido en una reserva forestal. Dicho individuo, James Yancey, de 35 años y residente de la cuadra 1400 de Edgewood Street, Chicago Heights, fue arrestado sin mayores incidentes.
El sheriff John D. Idleburg declaró: “Desde nuestros operadores del 911 hasta nuestros agentes y nuestro equipo canino, todo nuestro personal trabajó en conjunto para detener un robo en curso. Este es el tipo de trabajo en equipo, profesionalismo y dedicación que nuestros empleados demuestran a diario para mantener segura a nuestra comunidad. Estoy orgulloso de nuestro equipo, agradecido de que el propietario nos llamara de inmediato y satisfecho de que hayamos podido recuperar todos los bienes robados”.
Tras revisar los hechos y las circunstancias del caso, la Fiscalía del Condado de Lake aprobó los cargos de robo con allanamiento de morada y hurto mayor contra Dismukes, Harper y Yancey. Los tres comparecerán ante el tribunal esta mañana. La Oficina del Sheriff del Condado de Lake agradece al Departamento de Policía de Libertyville su colaboración.

Sheriff’s Deputies stop burglary in progress
Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies and K9 Simba stopped a burglary in progress overnight, with the assistance of a property owner.
On July 5, 2026, at approximately 11:20 p.m., the Lake County Sheriff’s 911 Center received a call from an individual who rented a flatbed trailer to someone who failed to return it. The owner of the flatbed had a GPS device on it, and informed Sheriff’s Telecommunicators that the flatbed was at a business in the 14200 block of West Rockland Road, in unincorporated Libertyville.
Sheriff’s deputies responded and observed two subjects, Corey Dismukes, 56, of the 3800 block of West Arthington Street, Chicago, and Emmanuel Harper, 45, of the 6200 block of North 84th Street, Milwaukee, WI, near the trailer, as they were loading two skid steers from the property onto the trailer. Sheriff’s deputies further investigated and determined that Harper and Dismukes were actively stealing the skid steers.
Sheriff’s deputies then reviewed video surveillance from the business and determined a third subject ran, just as they arrived. Sheriff’s K9 Simba responded and conducted a track of the third subject, and located him approximately 1.5 miles away, hiding in a forest preserve. That individual, James Yancey, 35, of the 1400 block of Edgewood Street, Chicago Heights, was arrested without further incident.
Sheriff John D. Idleburg said, “From our 911 telecommunicators, to our responding deputies, and our canine team, our staff worked together to stop a burglary in progress. This is the type of teamwork, professionalism, and dedication our employees demonstrate every day to help keep our community safe. I am proud of our team, grateful the property owner called us immediately, and pleased we were able to recover all of the stolen property.”
After reviewing the facts and circumstances of the case, the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office approved the charges of Burglary and Felony Theft for Dismukes, Harper, and Yancey. All three are due in court this morning. The Lake County Sheriff’s Office thanks the Libertyville Police Department for their assistance.
