SHINE Accepting Applications for Pharmacy Program

Waukegan, IL. – Waukegan Public School’s SHINE program, funded by Workforce Development of Lake County, is again offering an innovative program aimed at helping two dozen young adults through its comprehensive Pharmacy Technician Program.
The Pharmacy Technician Program is seeking 24 Lake County residents between the ages of 18 and 24 to participate in a six-month curriculum, which will guide participants through pharmacy technician training. The Pharmacy Technician cohort will begin in January 2020.
The SHINE program will provide practical skills development, post-secondary education preparation and occupational training opportunities. The first part of the training will by provided by College of Lake County’s Lakeshore Campus in Waukegan, and accepted students will have free-tuition and textbooks. After successfully passing the class, the SHINE program will pay for the Illinois State License and proceed to place students at one of several retail pharmacies in Lake County. Students will be paid for their 160 hours of work-based experience.
Applications for the program are now available, and will be accepted until October 31. Applicants must be 18 to 24 years old, and authorized to work in the United States.
