Waukegan, IL. – La Junta de Educación del Distrito Escolar 60 de la Unidad de la Comunidad de Waukegan dio la bienvenida a Isam Hussaini, estudiante de secundaria de Waukegan High School, como su nuevo miembro de la Junta de Estudiantes durante su reunión del 26 de enero.
Isam reemplaza a Van Weddle, quien completó su mandato de un año como tercer miembro de la junta estudiantil del distrito. El mandato de Isam como miembro sin derecho a voto se extenderá hasta enero de 2022.
Isam es un estudiante en el campus de WHS-Washington, donde es secretario junior de la Sociedad Nacional de Honores, capitán cadete de JROTC, así como miembro del Consejo Asesor del Director y de Waukegan 2 College. Fuera de la escuela, Isam suele ser voluntario en su mezquita local.
Antes de asistir a la escuela secundaria Waukegan, Isam asistió a la escuela primaria Glenwood y a la escuela secundaria Robert Abbott.
Algunos de los objetivos principales de Isam como miembro de la Junta de Estudiantes son proporcionar a los estudiantes diferentes recursos de salud mental, mejorar las relaciones entre maestros y estudiantes, así como encontrar nuevas formas de mantener a los estudiantes involucrados en su aprendizaje en línea. Quiere que los estudiantes sientan que pueden confiar en él con cualquier problema que tengan sin juzgar.
Como miembro de la Junta Estudiantil, a Isam se le dará tiempo en cada agenda de la Junta Escolar para hablar sobre las preocupaciones, el plan de estudios y las actividades de los estudiantes. Actuará como enlace entre los estudiantes y la junta escolar, reunirá las inquietudes y celebraciones de los estudiantes en una variedad de formas y ayudará a comunicar información importante de la Junta Escolar a los estudiantes.
Isam Hussaini, New Student Board Member
The Board of Education for Waukegan Community Unit School District 60 welcomed Waukegan High School Junior Isam Hussaini as its newest Student Board Member during its January 26 meeting.
Isam replaces Van Weddle, who completed his yearlong term as the district’s third student board member. Isam’s term as a non-voting member will run through January 2022.
Isam is a student at the WHS-Washington Campus, where he is junior secretary of the National Honors Society, a JROTC Cadet Captain, as well as a member of the Principal’s Advisory Council and Waukegan 2 College. Outside of school, Isam often volunteers at his local mosque.
Prior to attending Waukegan High School, Isam attended Glenwood Elementary School and Robert Abbott Middle School.
Some of Isam’s primary goals as Student Board Member are to provide students different mental health resources, improve teacher-student relationships, as well as to find new ways to keep students engaged in their online learning. He wants students to feel they can confide in him with any issue they have free of judgment.
As a Student Board Member, Isam will be given time on each School Board agenda to speak regarding student concerns, curriculum, and activities. He will act as a liaison between the students and school board, gather student concerns and celebrations in a variety of ways, and help communicate important information from the School Board to students.
