Kenosha, WI. – Boys & Girls Club de Kenosha se enorgullece en anunciar que Erica D. Erica ha sido miembro del Boys & Girls Club durante más de 6 años. Ella vive en Kenosha y actualmente es estudiante de segundo año en Tremper High School, donde sobresale como estudiante del cuadro de honor y también participa activamente en numerosas actividades.
A lo largo de los años, el Club se ha convertido en una parte vital de su éxito y desarrollo y la ha ayudado a convertirse en una mujer más segura y extrovertida. Como dice Erica: “Descubrí que había todo un mundo de personas maravillosas y grandes aventuras allí mismo, en el Boys and Girls Club de Kenosha. El crecimiento personal es un viaje y cuando piensas que estás solo en ese viaje, es mucho más desafiante. Estar en el club me hizo darme cuenta, de primera mano, de que no estaba solo”.
A través del tiempo de Erica en el Club, ha ganado amigos y mentores de por vida. Aprendió habilidades para mejorar su vida y recibió las herramientas para ayudarla a cumplir su visión futura de éxito. El Club la ayudó a ver a otras personas en acción y a aprender a ser más sociable y segura. “El Boys and Girls Club es un lugar especial y todavía espero con ansias nuestras excursiones y experiencias en el club, dijo Erica, “Mis experiencias en el club continúan enseñándome a ser extrovertida y valiente y estaré eternamente agradecida”.
No solo ha tenido un impacto en sus compañeros, sino que el personal de BGCK también ha disfrutado conocer a Erica y verla crecer a lo largo de los años. Nicole Washpun, Directora del Centro para Adolescentes del Club, dice: “Erica es una joven increíble académica y personalmente. Ha enfrentado varios desafíos y ha superado con éxito cada uno de ellos. Ella se esfuerza por ser la mejor y no permitirá que sus luchas la detengan”.
BGCK youth of the year
The Boys & Girls Club of Kenosha is proud to announce the 2023 BGCK Youth of the Year, Erica D. Erica has been a member of the Boys & Girls Club for over 6 years. She lives in Kenosha and is currently a sophomore at Tremper High School where she excels as an Honor Roll student and is also active in numerous activities.
Over the years, the Club has become a vital part of her success and development and has helped her grow into a more confident and outgoing woman. As Erica says, “I found that there was a whole world of wonderful people and great adventures right there at the Boys and Girls Club of Kenosha. Personal growth is a journey and when you think that you are alone on that journey it is much more challenging. Being at the club made me realize, firsthand, that I was not alone.”
Through Erica’s time at the Club, she has gained lifetime friends and mentors. She has learned life-enhancing skills and was given the tools to help her fulfill her future vision for success. The Club helped her see other people in action and learn how to be more social and confident. “The Boys and Girls Club is a special place and I still look forward to our field trips and club experiences, said Erica, “My club experiences continue to teach me to be outgoing and courageous and I am forever grateful.”
Not only has she made an impact on her peers, but BGCK staff have enjoyed getting to know Erica and see her grow over the years as well. Nicole Washpun, the Club’s Teen Center Director, says, “Erica is an amazing young woman academically and personally. She has faced several challenges and has successfully overcome each one. She strives to be the best and won’t allow her struggles to hold her back.”
