Gurnee, IL. – Una mujer de Evanston perdió la vida en choque de frente en la Grand Avenue y la I-94. El domingo 9 de noviembre de 2025, aproximadamente a las 20:54 horas, agentes del Departamento de Policía de Gurnee acudieron a un aviso de accidente de tráfico con heridos en Grand Avenue, sobre la Interestatal 94.
La investigación preliminar indica que una Chevrolet Suburban de 2004 circulaba en dirección oeste por Grand Avenue, en el carril central, cuando el conductor intentó cambiar de carril.
Debido a las condiciones invernales, se cree que el vehículo patinó sobre una placa de hielo, lo que provocó que perdiera el control, cruzara la mediana e invadiera los carriles en dirección este.
La Suburban chocó frontalmente con un Ford Focus de 2007 que circulaba en dirección este por Grand Avenue. El impacto sacó al Ford Focus de la carretera y lo lanzó a una cuneta.
La conductora del Ford Focus, una mujer de 29 años residente de Evanston, Illinois, falleció en el lugar del accidente. La Oficina del Médico Forense del Condado de Lake dará a conocer su nombre tras notificar a la familia.
Una pasajera de 29 años, residente de Waukegan, Illinois, junto con su hijo de 5 años y su hija de 8 meses, fue trasladada a un hospital de la zona con lesiones. Se desconoce su estado actual.

Un tercer vehículo, una Toyota Highlander que circulaba en dirección este por Grand Avenue junto al Ford Focus, fue alcanzada por los escombros de la colisión y sufrió un pinchazo. El Equipo de Asistencia en Accidentes Graves (MCAT) acudió al lugar para colaborar con la investigación. Grand Avenue permaneció cerrada hasta aproximadamente las 15:30 horas mientras los investigadores realizaban las diligencias pertinentes.

On Sunday, November 9, 2025, at approximately 8:54 PM, officers from the Gurnee Police Department were dispatched to a report of a traffic crash with injuries on Grand Avenue over Interstate 94.
Preliminary investigation indicates that a 2004 Chevrolet Suburban was traveling westbound on Grand Avenue in the center lane when the driver attempted to change lanes. Due to the winter weather conditions at the time, the vehicle is believed to have struck a patch of ice, causing it to lose control, cross over the center median, and enter the eastbound lanes of traffic.
The Suburban collided head-on with a 2007 Ford Focus traveling eastbound on Grand Avenue. The impact forced the Ford Focus off the roadway and into a ditch.
The driver of the Ford Focus, a 29-year-old female from Evanston, Illinois, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The Lake County Coroner’s Office will release the name following family notification. A 29-year-old female passenger from Waukegan, Illinois, along with her 5-year-old son and 8-month-old daughter, was transported to an area hospital with injuries. Their current conditions are unknown.
The driver and passengers of the Chevrolet Suburban were uninjured. A third vehicle, a Toyota Highlander traveling eastbound on Grand Avenue alongside the Ford Focus, was struck by debris from the collision and sustained a flat tire. The occupants of the Highlander were not injured.
The Major Crash Assistance Team (MCAT) responded to the scene to assist with the investigation. Grand Avenue remained closed until approximately 3:30 PM while investigators processed the scene.

The deceased has been identified as 29-year-old Bria Allen of Evanston. On Monday, November 10, 2025, an autopsy was conducted at the Lake County Coroner’s Office. Preliminary autopsy results indicate that Ms. Allen died from blunt force injuries as a result of the crash.
