Ingleside, IL. – Detectives del Sheriff del Condado de Lake investigan un homicidio ocurrido en Ingleside donde un joven hispano de 18 años es señalado como el homicida.
El 10 de octubre de 2025, aproximadamente a las 11:15 p.m., los agentes respondieron a un reporte de disparos en la cuadra 35700 de North Wilson Road, Ingleside. Al llegar, localizaron a un hombre de 19 años, residente de Round Lake, en la entrada de su casa con una herida de bala en la parte superior del cuerpo. Los agentes intentaron salvarle la vida hasta que llegaron los paramédicos. Los paramédicos también intentaron salvarle la vida, pero fue en vano. Posteriormente, el hombre fue declarado muerto en el lugar de los hechos.
Una investigación preliminar indica que el hombre se encontraba en la residencia de Ingleside asistiendo a una fiesta de cumpleaños. Un grupo llegó a la fiesta y discutió con otros asistentes. El grupo que discutía se fue, pero al parecer, tras llegar a sus vehículos, pasaron por la residencia de Ingleside y comenzaron a disparar, hiriendo al joven de 19 años que se encontraba en la entrada. El grupo huyó del lugar.
La Oficina Forense del Condado de Lake acudió al lugar y se está programando una autopsia.
Durante la investigación, los detectives identificaron el vehículo que se utilizó en el tiroteo. Posteriormente, recopilaron información sobre el responsable del disparo desde el vehículo. Localizaron el vehículo estacionado en la residencia de Yurem Mejía-Gómez, de 18 años, ubicada en la cuadra 300 de Meadow Green Lane, Round Lake Beach. Mejía-Gómez fue identificada como la persona que disparó.
Los detectives descubrieron una posible residencia en Round Lake Beach donde el arma de fuego pudo haber estado oculta tras el tiroteo. Registraron la residencia, pero no encontraron ningún arma. El perro detector de explosivos del Sheriff del Condado de Lake, Zack, indicó que había un arma de fuego en un auto estacionado frente a la casa. El vehículo fue registrado y se localizó el arma de fuego que se cree se utilizó en el tiroteo, junto con munición que coincidía con el tipo de bala disparada durante el incidente.
La Fiscalía del Estado del Condado de Lake colaboró en la emisión de dos órdenes de registro durante la investigación. Tras revisar los hechos y las circunstancias del incidente, la Fiscalía Estatal del Condado de Lake aprobó los siguientes cargos contra Mejía Gómez:
- Dos cargos de homicidio en primer grado
- Un cargo de disparo agravado de arma de fuego
La Oficina Forense del Condado de Lake acudió al lugar y se está programando una autopsia. El homicidio continúa bajo investigación por la División de Investigaciones Criminales de la Oficina del Sheriff del Condado de Lake.

Ingleside Homicide Investigation
Lake County Sheriff’s Detectives are investigating a homicide that occurred in Ingleside.
On October 10, 2025, at approximately 11:15 p.m., Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a report of a shots fired in the 35700 block of North Wilson Road, Ingleside. When sheriff’s deputies arrived, they located a 19-year-old man of Round Lake, in the driveway with a gunshot wound to the upper body. Sheriff’s deputies attempted life-saving efforts until paramedics arrived. Paramedics also attempted to save the man’s life, to no avail. The man was subsequently pronounced deceased at the scene.
A preliminary investigation shows the man was at the Ingleside residence attending a birthday party. A group arrived at the party and engaged in an argument with a group of partygoers. The argumentative group left, but it appears after getting to their vehicles, they drove by the Ingleside residence and began shooting, striking the 19-year-old that was in the driveway. The group then fled from the scene.
During the investigation, sheriff’s detectives identified the vehicle that was driven in the drive-by shooting. Detectives then developed information as to who was responsible for shooting from the vehicle. Detectives located the vehicle parked at the residence of Yurem Mejia-Gomez, 18, of the 300 block of Meadow Green Lane, Round Lake Beach. Mejia-Gomez was identified as the shooter.
Detectives learned of a possible residence in Round Lake Beach where the firearm may have been hidden following the shooting. That residence was searched, but no firearm was located. Lake County Sheriff’s Explosive Detection Canine Zack gave indications there was a firearm in a car parked in front of the home. The vehicle was searched and the firearm believed to have been used in the shooting was located, along with ammunition that matched the type of rounds shot during the incident.
The Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office assisted in the issuance of two search warrants during the investigation. After reviewing the facts and circumstances surrounding the incident, the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office approved the following charges for Mejia-Gomez:
- Two Counts of First-Degree Murder
- One Count of Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm
The Lake County Coroner’s Office responded, and an autopsy is being scheduled.
The homicide remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division.
