Waukegan, IL. – Encabezados por el Alcalde Sam Cunningham, se llevaron a cabo los honores y desfile por el Día de los Caídos o Memorial Day, evento que se realizó en coordinación con Legión Americana Homer Dahringer Puesto 281 de esta ciudad.
Es un día festivo federal en Estados Unidos para honrar y lamentar al personal militar estadounidense que falleció sirviendo en las Fuerzas Armadas de Estados Unidos. Se celebra el último lunes de mayo.
El Día de los Caídos también se considera el inicio no oficial del verano en Estados Unidos. Es un día para visitar cementerios y monumentos conmemorativos para llorar a los militares fallecidos en acto de servicio. Voluntarios colocarán banderas estadounidenses en las tumbas de dichos militares en los cementerios nacionales.

Memorial Day is a federal holiday in the United States to honor and mourn American military personnel who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces. It is celebrated on the last Monday in May.
Memorial Day is also considered the unofficial start of summer in the United States. It is a day to visit cemeteries and memorials to mourn those killed in the line of duty. Volunteers will place American flags on the graves of these service members in national cemeteries.
