Lake County, IL. – La Oficina del Sheriff del Condado de Lake colaboró con la Fuerza de Tarea Regional Norte contra Delitos Graves (NORTAF, por sus siglas en inglés) en el arresto de cuatro personas involucradas en un robo residencial la tarde del 16 de abril de 2025.
Aproximadamente a las 3:30 p.m., investigadores de NORTAF vigilaban un Range Rover, conducido por David C. Gómez Galindo, de 40 años, residente de la cuadra 3600 de West Foster Avenue, Cicero, en el que viajaban tres presuntos ladrones residenciales. El vehículo ingresó al Condado de Lake y se detuvo en una residencia ubicada en la cuadra 4200 de Hilltop Road, Long Grove. Dos pasajeros descendieron del vehículo y cometieron un robo residencial.
Un segundo vehículo, un Mercedes-Benz conducido por Daniel F. Ospina Lozano, de 26 años, residente de la cuadra 1500 de South Laramie Avenue, Cicero, llegó a la zona para vigilar la situación. Los investigadores de NORTAF solicitaron la asistencia de la Oficina del Sheriff del Condado de Lake, lo que provocó la intervención de agentes y detectives.
Tras el robo, los dos agresores corrieron de vuelta al Range Rover, y el conductor huyó en el coche. Los investigadores de NORTAF trabajaron de inmediato para detenerlos.
Un investigador de NORTAF activó con éxito un dispositivo de desinflado de neumáticos en el Mercedes-Benz cuando llegó el primer detective del sheriff al lugar. Ospina Lozano fue detenido por un detective del sheriff e investigadores de NORTAF.
Ante la congestión del tráfico, los investigadores de NORTAF lograron detener el Range Rover. Los tres ocupantes huyeron a pie, pero finalmente fueron detenidos por los investigadores de NORTAF y los agentes del sheriff.
Los cuatro sospechosos fueron trasladados a la División de Investigaciones Criminales de la Oficina del Sheriff del Condado de Lake, donde continuó la investigación. Tras revisar el caso, la Fiscalía Estatal del Condado de Lake aprobó un cargo de Robo Residencial (Delito Grave de Clase 1) para los cuatro agresores. Los otros dos sospechosos arrestados fueron:
Haral S. Canter-Rocha, de 26 años, residente de la cuadra 4100 de Cullom Avenue, Chicago; y Brian E. Navarrete-Caballero, de 31 años, residente de la cuadra 5300 de North Damon Avenue, Chicago.
Según la investigación de NORTAF, se cree que estos cuatro individuos forman parte de una banda de ladrones más grande que se centra en hogares de la comunidad asiática.
El sheriff del condado de Lake, John D. Idleburg, elogió la colaboración y declaró: “Este es un gran ejemplo de lo que podemos lograr cuando las fuerzas del orden trabajan juntas. NORTAF ha realizado un trabajo increíble al realizar investigaciones a largo plazo sobre bandas de ladrones que han estado asolando los suburbios. Agradezco la colaboración entre NORTAF y nuestra División de Investigaciones Criminales. Como recordatorio, si observa algo sospechoso o cree que algo no anda bien, siempre es mejor denunciarlo y dejar que las fuerzas del orden investiguen”.
La investigación continúa activa y es posible que se presenten cargos adicionales. Los cuatro acusados comparecieron ante el Tribunal de Primera Instancia y se ordenó su detención. Se presume la inocencia de todos los acusados a menos que se demuestre su culpabilidad ante un tribunal.

Law forces arrest four burglars
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office assisted the North Regional Major Crimes Task Force (NORTAF) in arresting four individuals involved in a residential burglary on the afternoon of April 16, 2025.
At approximately 3:30 p.m., NORTAF investigators were surveilling a Range Rover, driven by David C. Gomez Galindo, 40, of the 3600 block of West Foster Avenue, Cicero, containing three suspected residential burglars. The vehicle entered Lake County and stopped at a residence in the 4200 block of Hilltop Road, Long Grove. Two passengers exited the vehicle and committed a residential burglary.
A second vehicle, a Mercedes-Benz driven by Daniel F. Ospina Lozano, 26, of the 1500 block of South Laramie Avenue, Cicero, arrived in the area to act as a lookout. NORTAF investigators requested assistance from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, prompting deputies and detectives to respond.
After the burglary, the two offenders ran back to the Range Rover, and the driver of the Range Rover fled in the car. NORTAF investigators immediately worked to take them into custody.
A NORTAF investigator successfully deployed a tire deflation device on the Mercedes-Benz as the first sheriff’s detective arrived on scene. Ospina Lozano was taken into custody by a sheriff’s detective and NORTAF investigators.
As traffic backed up, NORTAF investigators were able to stop the Range Rover. All three occupants fled on foot but were ultimately apprehended by NORTAF investigators and sheriff’s deputies.
All four suspects were transported to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division, where the investigation continued. After reviewing the case, the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office approved one count of Residential Burglary (Class 1 Felony) all four offenders.

The additional two suspects arrested were:
Haral S. Canter-Rocha, 26, of the 4100 block of Cullom Avenue, Chicago
Brian E. Navarrete-Caballero, 31, of the 5300 block of North Damon Avenue, Chicago
Based on NORTAF’s investigation, these four individuals are believed to be part of a larger burglary crew targeting homes within the Asian community.
Lake County Sheriff John D. Idleburg praised the collaborative effort, saying:
“This is a great example of what we can accomplish when law enforcement agencies work together. NORTAF has done an incredible job conducting long-term investigations into burglary crews that have been plaguing the suburbs. I’m grateful for the collaboration between NORTAF and our Criminal Investigations Division. As a reminder, if you see something suspicious or believe something is off, it’s always best to report it and let law enforcement investigate.”
The investigation remains active and additional charges are possible. All four offenders appeared in First Appearance Court and all were ordered held for Detention Court. All defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
