Waukegan, IL. – El Distrito de Parques de Waukegan y la Sociedad Histórica de Waukegan anuncian la ceremonia oficial de corte de cinta e inauguración del Museo de Historia de Waukegan en el Carnegie el jueves 1 de mayo de 2025 a las 12 p. m. Ubicada en 1 N. Sheridan Road, en pleno centro de Waukegan, con vistas al lago Michigan, la histórica Biblioteca Carnegie, que estuvo desocupada durante mucho tiempo, ha sido restaurada y transformada con gran esmero en un vibrante museo que exhibe la dinámica y diversa historia de Waukegan.
El nuevo museo cuenta con una extensa exposición permanente, “Las Crónicas de Waukegan”, que destaca la historia de Waukegan desde la Edad de Hielo hasta el siglo XXI. La exposición fue creada en colaboración con Luci Creative, una galardonada firma de diseño de exposiciones, y cuenta con textos en inglés y español. También se exhibe permanentemente la colección personal de libros del mundialmente reconocido autor y oriundo de Waukegan, Ray Bradbury, en la sala restaurada donde, de niño, dedicó muchas horas a cultivar su amor por las historias y los libros.

Waukegan History Museum Will Open
The Waukegan Park District and the Waukegan Historical Society announce the official ribbon cutting and opening ceremony for the Waukegan History Museum at the Carnegie on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at 12pm. Located at 1 N. Sheridan Road in the heart of Downtown Waukegan overlooking Lake Michigan, the long-vacant, historic Carnegie Library has been beautifully restored and transformed into a vibrant museum showcasing Waukegan’s dynamic and diverse history.
The new museum features an expansive permanent exhibit, “The Waukegan Chronicles,” which highlights Waukegan’s history from the ice age through the 21st century. The exhibit was created in collaboration with Luci Creative, an award-winning exhibit design firm, and features text in English and Spanish. Also on permanent display is the personal book collection of world-renowned author and Waukegan-native Ray Bradbury in the restored room where he spent many hours as a child nurturing his love for stories and books.
