Waukegan, IL. – José Luis Mendoza-González, de 52 años y residente de esta ciudad, fue acusado de encubrimiento de una muerte, maltrato de un cadáver y obstrucción a la justicia.
El 9 de marzo de 2025, Megan Bos, una mujer de 37 años fue reportada como desaparecida en Antioch, Illinois, ante el Departamento de Policía de Antioch. Megan también pasó tiempo en Waukegan. El Departamento de Policía de Antioch inició la investigación. Trabajaban con agencias, incluyendo al Departamento de Policía de Waukegan, para ayudar a localizarla.
La División de Patrulla del Departamento de Policía de Waukegan realizó numerosas visitas para intentar localizar a Megan. Se distribuyeron volantes y se realizó una campaña en redes sociales para buscar pistas sobre su paradero.
El 10 de abril de 2025, detectives de Antioch acudieron a un negocio de Waukegan para interrogar a una persona de interés que tenía contacto frecuente con Megan. El sujeto necesitaba un traductor al español. Un oficial de patrulla de Waukegan ayudó a los detectives de Antioch con la traducción.
Durante esa conversación, el sujeto comenzó a hablar sobre la visita de Megan a su casa el 19 de febrero, pero inicialmente declaró que se fue después de su visita. Tras una conversación más extensa sobre su paradero y si seguía con vida, le indicó que no quería ser arrestado en la tienda, pero no explicó el motivo.
La conversación se trasladó al Departamento de Policía de Waukegan, donde les informó a los detectives que Megan se encontraba en un contenedor en su patio, en la cuadra 700 de la calle Yeoman, en Waukegan. Esto fue verificado por detectives y oficiales de Waukegan. La residencia fue asegurada y se obtuvo una orden de registro.
Tras una nueva entrevista con el sospechoso, este declaró que Megan había ido a su residencia la noche del 19 de febrero de 2025 y lo había visitado. Declaró que, en algún momento, ella inhaló drogas, pero desconocía qué tipo de droga era.
Declaró que ella le preguntó si podía pasar el rato en su sótano, lo cual él le permitió. Fue a otra parte de la casa a reparar una tubería que goteaba, pero al regresar, declaró que fue allí donde la encontró. Creía que había sufrido una sobredosis y que ya estaba fallecida. Declaró que temía meterse en problemas, así que la dejó en el sótano unos días antes de trasladarla a un contenedor en su jardín. Permaneció allí hasta que los detectives la localizaron el 10 de abril.
Declaró que la noche del incidente rompió su teléfono y lo tiró a la basura. Cuando se le preguntó qué planeaba hacer con ella, respondió que no lo sabía.
La Unidad de Crímenes Graves (MCSU, por sus siglas en inglés) del Departamento de Policía de Waukegan fue llamada para procesar la escena. Con la coordinación de la Oficina del Forense del Condado de Lake, Megan fue trasladada a la oficina del forense para una autopsia.
La autopsia se realizó el viernes 11 de abril de 2025. Durante la autopsia, no se encontraron signos de trauma ni forcejeo en su cuerpo. La investigación continúa, y los detectives esperan más resultados del laboratorio, como los de toxicología.
El Departamento de Policía de Antioch realizó un excelente trabajo para encontrar la información que los condujo al sospechoso de Waukegan. Este caso fue revisado por la Fiscalía Estatal del Condado de Lake para la formulación de cargos. Compareció ante el tribunal de primera comparecencia el 12 de abril de 2025.

Charged with concealment of a death
On March 9, 2025, Megan Bos, a 37-year-old female was reported missing from Antioch, Illinois to the Antioch Police Department. Megan also spent time in Waukegan. The Antioch Police Department began their investigation. They were working with agencies to include the Waukegan Police Department to help locate her.
The Waukegan Police Department’s Patrol Division went out numerous times attempting to locate Megan. Flyers were circulated as well as social media outreach looking for any clues to her whereabouts.
On April 10, 2025, Antioch detectives came to a Waukegan business to question a person of interest who had frequent contact with Megan. The subject needed a Spanish translator. A Waukegan Patrol Officer assisted Antioch detectives with the translation.
During that conversation, the subject began to talk about Megan coming to his house on February 19th but initially stated she left after her visit. After further conversation as to her whereabouts and if she was still alive, he advised that he did not want to be arrested at the store but did not say why.
The conversation was then moved to the Waukegan Police Department, where he told detectives that Megan was in a container in his yard in the 700 block of Yeoman Street in Waukegan. This was verified by Waukegan detectives and Officers. The residence was then secured, and a search warrant was obtained.
Upon further interview with the suspect, he stated that Megan had come over to his residence on the evening of February 19, 2025, and visited with him. He stated that at some point, she snorted some drugs, but he did not know what type of drug it was.
He stated that she asked if she could hang out in his basement, which he let her do. He went to another part of the house tending to a leaky pipe, but when he returned, he stated that’s when he found her. He believed she had overdosed and was already deceased.
He stated that he was scared that he was going to be in trouble, so he left her in the basement for a few days before moving her to a container in his yard. She remained there until detectives located her on April 10.
He stated that on the night it happened he broke her phone and threw it in the regular trash. When asked what he planned on doing with her, he stated that he did not know.
The Waukegan Police Department’s Major Crime Scene Unit (MCSU) was called out to process the scene. With the coordination of the Lake County Coroner’s Office Megan was transported to the coroner’s office for an autopsy.
The autopsy occurred on Friday, April 11, 2025. During the autopsy there were no signs of any trauma or a struggle to her body. The investigation is still ongoing, with detectives waiting for further results from the lab, such as toxicology.
The Antioch Police Department did a tremendous job locating the information that led them to the Waukegan suspect.
This case was screened with the Lake County States Attorney’s Office for charges. Jose Luis Mendoza-Gonzalez, a 52-year-old Waukegan resident was charged with Concealment of a Death (2 counts), Abuse of a Corpse, and Obstructing Justice. He appeared in first appearance court on April 12, 2025.
