Lake Bluff fatal traffic crash

Lake Bluff, IL. – On Sunday, February 23, 2025, at approximately 4:52 a.m., the Lake Bluff Police Department and Lake Bluff Fire Department responded to Route 41 south of Route 176 for a report of a vehicle crash with injuries. Officers arrived to find two vehicles had been involved in a head-on crash in the northbound lanes of Route 41.
A preliminary investigation shows that one of the vehicles involved was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes when the crash occurred. The driver of that vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. Based on the seriousness of the incident, the Major Crash Assistance Team (MCAT) of Lake County was requested to assist in the investigation.
The Lake County Coroner’s Office was notified and responded to the scene.
The deceased has been identified as 20-year-old Britney Perez, originally of Texas, but more recently residing in Evanston. On Monday, February 24, 2025, an autopsy was conducted at the Lake County Coroner’s Office. Autopsy results indicate that Ms. Perez died from blunt force injuries as a result of the crash.
The crash remains under investigation by the Lake Bluff Police Department and MCAT.
