Long Grove, IL. -Los investigadores de accidentes de tráfico del sheriff del condado de Lake están investigando un accidente fatal que ocurrió en Long Grove esta mañana.
El 19 de septiembre de 2023, aproximadamente a las 10:10 a.m., agentes del sheriff del condado de Lake fueron enviados a la Ruta 53 (Hicks Road) aproximadamente a ¼ de milla al norte de Lake Cook Road, Long Grove, por una colisión de tráfico frontal. Los agentes del sheriff llegaron y encontraron que un camión y un semirremolque chocaron de frente.
La investigación preliminar muestra que el conductor de un camión Isuzu 2021, conducido por un hombre adulto, viajaba hacia el norte por la Ruta 53. Por una razón desconocida, el Isuzu cruzó hacia los carriles de tráfico en dirección sur, en el camino de un camión con semirremolque Freightliner 2016 en dirección sur conducido por un hombre de 49 años de Dixon. El camión transportaba un remolque cargado. El camión y el semirremolque chocaron frontalmente.
El conductor del camión sufrió heridas graves y fue declarado fallecido en el lugar. Un pasajero masculino adulto en el camión fue transportado en ambulancia al Centro Médico Advocate Condell en Libertyville con heridas críticas. El conductor del camión fue transportado en ambulancia al Northwest Community Hospital en Arlington Heights con heridas graves.
La oficina forense del condado de Lake acudió al lugar y se está programando una autopsia para el conductor del camión. Se encuentran pendientes las identidades de los ocupantes del camión. El accidente sigue siendo investigado por la Unidad Técnica de Investigaciones de Accidentes de la Oficina del Sheriff del Condado de Lake.
Fatal Long Grove traffic crash
Lake County Sheriff’s Traffic Crash Investigators are investigating a fatal crash that occurred in Long Grove this morning.
On September 19, 2023, at approximately 10:10 a.m., Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to Route 53 (Hicks Road) approximately ¼ mile north of Lake Cook Road, Long Grove, for a head-on traffic collision. Sheriff’s deputies arrived and found a box truck and semi-truck collided head-on.
Preliminary investigation shows the driver of a 2021 Isuzu box truck, driven by an adult male, was traveling northbound on Route 53. For an unknown reason, the Isuzu crossed into the southbound lanes of traffic, into the path of a southbound 2016 Freightliner semi-truck, driven by a 49-year-old man of Dixon. The semi-truck was hauling a loaded trailer. The box truck and semi-truck collided head-on.
The driver of the box truck sustained major injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. An adult male passenger in the box truck was transported via ambulance to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with critical injuries. The driver of the semi-truck was transported via ambulance to Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights with serious injuries.
The Lake County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene and an autopsy is being scheduled for the driver of the box truck. The identities of the occupants of the box truck are pending.
The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit.
