On Sunday, March 5, 2023, at approximately 9:06 a.m., Kane County Sheriff’s Deputies and the Hampshire Fire Protection District responded to the 45W100 block of Allen Road for a two-vehicle crash with injuries, involving a Ford F-150 pickup truck and a Toyota Prius.
The driver of the Prius was transported via Life Net helicopter to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with critical, life-threatening injuries, where he was later pronounced deceased in the emergency room. The Lake County Coroner’s Office was notified at that time.
The deceased has been identified as 80-year-old William Granias of Huntley. On Monday, March 6, 2023, an autopsy was completed at the Lake County Coroner’s Office. Preliminary results indicate that Mr. Granias died from Blunt Force Injuries as a result of the crash.
The incident remains under investigation by the Kane County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division and Lake County Coroner’s Office.
