Lake County, IL. – La División de Investigaciones Criminales de la Oficina del Sheriff del Condado de Lake, en colaboración con el Servicio de Investigación Criminal Naval (NCIS, por sus siglas en inglés), concluyó una investigación que resultó en el arresto de un hombre por el delito de solicitación indecente de un niño.
Durante las últimas semanas, Connor N. Smith, de 32 años, de la cuadra 8200 de Hillcrest Drive, Orland Park, se comunicó en línea con un detective encubierto. El detective se hacía pasar por una niña menor de 15 años. Durante las conversaciones, Smith le envió al “niño” imágenes y videos sexualmente explícitos de sí mismo. Smith luego hizo arreglos para encontrarse con la ‘niña’ para un encuentro sexual.
El 9 de febrero, Smith condujo para encontrarse con la niña para tener un encuentro sexual con ella. Cuando llegó Smith, los detectives se trasladaron para detenerlo. Smith, sin embargo, pudo escapar y huyó en su vehículo.
El 10 de febrero de 2023, los detectives del alguacil obtuvieron una orden de arresto a nivel nacional para Smith por:

• Viajar para reunirse con un menor (delito mayor de clase 3)
• Acicalamiento (delito mayor de clase 4)
• Difusión de material nocivo (delito grave de clase 4)
  Un juez del condado de Lake fijó la fianza de la orden en $1,000,000.00.
  Smith indicó que se entregaría con la orden de arresto, pero hasta ahora no lo ha hecho. Si ve a Smith, no se acerque a él, comuníquese con la jurisdicción policial local donde lo ve. Todos los acusados se presumen inocentes a menos que se pruebe su culpabilidad en un tribunal de justicia.

Warrant issued for indecent solicitation
On February 9, 2023, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division in collaboration with the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) concluded an investigation which resulted in the arrest of a man for the offense of indecent solicitation of a child.
For the past several weeks, Connor N. Smith, 32, of the 8200 block of Hillcrest Drive, Orland Park, was communicating with an undercover detective online. The detective was posing as a girl under the age of 15. During the conversations, Smith sent ‘the child’ sexually explicit images and videos of himself. Smith then made arrangements to meet the ‘girl’ for a sexual encounter.
On February 9th, Smith drove to meet the girl to engage in a sexual encounter with her. When Smith arrived, detectives moved in to apprehend him. Smith, however was able to escape and fled in his vehicle.
On February 10, 2023, sheriff’s detectives obtained a nationwide arrest warrant for Smith for:

• Traveling to Meet a Minor (Class 3 Felony)
• Grooming (Class 4 Felony)
• Disseminating Harmful Material (Class 4 Felony)
• A Lake County Judge set bond on the warrant at $1,000,000.00.
  Smith indicated he would surrender himself on the arrest warrant, but thus far, has failed to do so. If you see Smith, do not approach him, please contact the local law enforcement jurisdiction where you see him. All defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
