Mayfield urges continued vigilance against Covid-19

By Rita Mayfield/State Rep. D60
Lake County, IL. - Covid-19 is a very serious public health threat to all of us as people. It can lead to death in the very old, the very young, and everybody in between. While elderly people succumb to it the most, many perfectly healthy people have become infected and died. No one is immune.
Covid-19 hits communities of color very hard. This is particularly true in our Latinx neighborhoods and there are a number of reasons for this. Our neighborhoods are home to a lot of hard working people who are employed doing essential work. This includes retail workers, truck drivers, health care workers, factory personnel and more. There are also many multi-generational homes here.
You can be infected with covid-19 and spread it to other people around you even though you are feeling fine. It is very important that you continue to take steps to help fight the spread.
1.- Wear a mask at all times when no in your home. Be sure it covers your mouth and nose.
2.- Stay at least 6 feet of distance away from other people whenever possible
3.- Wash your hands with soap and water for 20seconds frequently throughout the day.
4.- Wash your hands thoroughly immediately when you get home.
Get tested
If you are not feeling well, please stay home, and by all means get tested if you are not feeling well. The testing center is located at 2161 Northwestern Avenue. It is free and there to help keep everyone healthy. Please get tested even if you are feeling fine, but you are an essential worker.
Our Latinx community is a vital part of our district. I am proud of you and want you and your family to stay safe. Please continue to do everything possible to help fight the spread of covid019.
While my physical office is closed to fight the spread, my staff and I are working remotely and remain here for you. Please call (847) 599-2800 or email 60thdistrict@gmail.com. It is an honor to serve as your State Representative.
