Petitions for established political parties in the upcoming 2023 Waukegan municipal election are available in the Office of City Clerk Janet E. Kilkelly at City Hall, 100 N. Martin Luther King Jr Ave. Courtesy petition packages are available to be downloaded and printed off the City of Waukegan website https://www.waukeganil.gov/736/Municipal-Elections. Also available on the website are hyperlinks to election resources, e.g. ILLINOIS STATE BOARD OF ELECTIONS and OFFICE OF THE COUNTY CLERK OF LAKE COUNTY – Elections. Petitions can be circulated now through November 28, 2022. Up for election in 2023, are all City of Waukegan Alderperson positions for Wards 1 through 9: https://www.waukeganil.gov/188/Council-Members. To qualify as a candidate, you must be a registered voter of the City of Waukegan, and have resided within the corporate limits of the City for at least one year. Nominating petitions should be filed with the Office of City Clerk Janet E. Kilkelly. The filing period will take place from 8 A.M. to 5 P.M. Monday, November 21, 2022, through Monday, November 28, 2022, excluding weekend days. The Consolidated Primary Election will be held on Tuesday, February 28, 2023. The Consolidated Election will take place on Tuesday, April 4, 2023.
