Waukegan, IL. – Promulga Gobernador Pritzker Actas Públicas 101-641 y 101-642, que modifican el proceso electoral para la Elección General del 3 de noviembre de 2020. Estos cambios serán derogados el 1 de enero de 2021, anunció el pasado el 16 de junio de 2020.

Algunos de los cambios
-Ampliar el período de tiempo cuando los votantes pueden presentar una Solicitud de boleta. Las solicitudes pueden presentarse a partir del 16 de junio en lugar de la fecha original del 1 de agosto.
-Permitir a los votantes enviar una solicitud de boleta por correo electrónico. Esto se suma al correo ya existente, la entrega en persona o los métodos electrónicos.
-Envío de una solicitud de boleta por parte de la Secretaria del Condado de Lake a aquellos que se registraron para votar o cambiaron su nombre en su registro de votantes entre el 18 de marzo de 2020 y el 31 de julio de 2020.
-Para el 1 de agosto, la Secretaria del Condado de Lake envía por correo una solicitud de boleta a los votantes que emitieron una boleta por correo, durante la votación anticipada o el Día de la Elección en la Elección General de 2018 (noviembre de 2018), la Elección Consolidada de 2019 (abril 2019), o las elecciones primarias generales de 2020 (marzo de 2020).

Voting by Mail in November 2020
Public Acts 101-641 and 101-642 were signed into law by Governor Pritzker on June 16, 2020 changing some provisions to the election process only for the November 3, 2020 General Election. These changes will be repealed on January 1, 2021.
Due to COVID-19, we are encouraging all voters to vote by mail and avoid lines during early voting or on Election Day. Feel safe in the comfort of your own home and vote from there.
Voting by mail changes
-Expanding the period of time when voters can submit an Application for Ballot. Applications can be submitted beginning June 16 instead of the original date of August 1.
-Enabling voters to submit an Application for Ballot through email. This is in addition to the already-existing mail, in person delivery, or electronic methods.
-Mailing of an Application for Ballot by the Lake County Clerk to those who registered to vote or changed their name on their voter registration record between March 18, 2020 and July 31, 2020.
-By August 1, the mailing of an Application for Ballot by the Lake County Clerk to the voters who cast a ballot by mail, during early voting, or on Election Day in the 2018 General Election (November 2018), the 2019 Consolidated Election (April 2019), or the 2020 General Primary Election (March 2020).

-Your ballot can be mailed to any alternate address - especially helpful for snowbirds and students.
Voting by mail is open to all registered voters, no excuse or reason to qualify. To have your ballot arrive in your mailbox, you simply submit an electronic or paper Application for Ballot to the Lake County Clerk's office by 5 pm on October 29, 2020.

If you prefer a paper application, you can wait for the August mailing from the Lake County Clerk's office, download the application from our website, or request one to be sent to you now. But for the most efficient service, we are encouraging you to submit an electronic ballot application through the Lake County Clerk's website. A few clicks online, and you are done! You will save time, paper, and postage.

Sept. 24
-First Day to Mail Ballots.
-Ballots will be mailed to your residence or alternate mailing address beginning September 24, 2020.
Oct. 29
-Last Day to Accept Ballot Applications.
-All ballot requests must be received (mailed, emailed, or personally delivered) in the Lake County Clerk's Office by 5 pm.
Nov. 3
-Election Day.
-Your voted ballot by mail must be hand delivered to the Lake County Clerk's office by 7 PM or postmarked no later than Election Day.
