Waukegan, IL. – De conformidad con la Ley Pública 102-0015, la Oficina del Secretario del Condado de Lake ha iniciado el envío obligatorio de solicitudes para que los votantes completen una solicitud única para inscribirse en el programa de voto permanente por correo. El 7 de agosto de 2024 o después, el aviso para el voto permanente por correo llegará a los buzones de todo el Condado de Lake.
Los votantes que deseen inscribirse en el voto permanente por correo pueden hacerlo completando la solicitud y devolviéndola a la Oficina del Secretario del Condado de Lake. Los votantes que no deseen recibir notificaciones futuras también pueden optar por no recibirlas, ya que este envío es obligatorio cada dos años.
¿Por qué hacemos esto?
La Ley Pública 102-0015 se convirtió en ley en 2021 y requiere que la autoridad electoral notifique a los votantes elegibles sobre la posibilidad de inscribirse en el voto permanente por correo.
Lo que necesita saber
Los votantes que optaron por no recibir notificaciones o los votantes que ya están inscritos en el voto permanente por correo no recibirán la solicitud de voto permanente por correo.
Los votantes que tengan una dirección de correo electrónico registrada en la Oficina del Secretario del Condado de Lake recibirán la solicitud por correo electrónico.
El correo permite a los votantes completar una Solicitud de voto permanente por correo y recibir una boleta automáticamente por correo a cualquier dirección especificada para futuras elecciones.
Un votante permanece en estado permanente hasta que solicite ser eliminado, notifique un cambio de dirección fuera del Condado de Lake o nuestra oficina reciba confirmación de que el votante se ha registrado en otro condado.
Las boletas se envían por correo 40 días antes de cada elección. Este año, las boletas comenzarán a enviarse por correo el 26 de septiembre de 2024.

Nota importante sobre el tiempo

Postal voting process begins
Lake County Clerk’s Office initiates mandated permanent vote by mail application mailing
In accordance to Public Act 102-0015, the Lake County Clerk’s Office has initiated its mandated mailing to allow voters to complete a one-time application to become enrolled in the permanent vote by mail program. On or after August 7th 2024, the notice for permanent vote by mail will be arriving in mailboxes across Lake County. Voters wishing to enroll in permanent vote by mail can do so by completing the application and returning it to the Lake County Clerk’s Office. Voters who do not wish to receive future notifications can also opt-out of notifications as this mailing is required every two years.
Why Are We Doing This?
Public Act 102-0015 was signed into law in 2021 and requires the election authority to notify eligible voters about the ability to enroll in permanent vote by mail.
What You Need to Know:
Voters who have opted out of notifications or voters who are already enrolled in permanent vote by mail will not be receiving the permanent vote by mail application mailing.
Voters who have an email address on file with the Lake County Clerk’s Office will be emailed the application.
The mailing allows voters to complete an Application for Permanent Vote by Mail and have a ballot automatically mailed to them at any address specified for future elections.
A voter remains in permanent status until the voter requests to be removed, provides notice of a change of address outside of Lake County, or our office received confirmation that the voter has registered in another county.
Ballots are mailed 40-days prior to each election. This year, ballots will begin to be mailed September 26, 2024. Applications are also available for electronic completion by visiting LakeVoterPower.Info
Important note on timing:
In early July, the Lake County Clerk’s Office conducted voter registration audit mailing as required by federal and state law. Due to the timing of these mailings, there might be some overlap in the receipt of audit letters and Vote by Mail letters by Lake County residents. We are currently receiving multiple trays of audit letter responses daily, and it is possible that some of these responses may not be processed before the Vote by Mail mailing is dispatched. We ask for your patience and understanding during this period and encourage you to follow the instructions provided in both mailings carefully.
