Waukegan, IL. – El 28 de enero próximo marca una fecha importante para el futuro de las decisiones gubernamentales en esta ciudad, pues son las votaciones entre demócratas y republicanos para definir ganadores en las elecciones primarias para regidor municipal.
Posteriormente, los candidatos independientes se medirán con los ganadores de las primarias que tengan oponente en las elecciones generales del 4 de abril del 2022 a fin de saber quién continuará o será nuevo concejal en los 9 puestos que están en juego.
Por lo pronto, quienes no tendrán problemas para seguir en el cargo, ya que no tuvieron oponente, son, en el Distrito 1, la demócrata Sylvia Bolton, y en el Distrito 5, la republicana Edith “Eddie” Newsome.
El segundo distrito se definirá en las elecciones primarias, ya que no hay candidato independiente registrado para las generales, por lo que los candidatos demócratas, Patrick D. Seger, actualmente en el puesto, y el hispano José A. Guzmán, decidirán su suerte en las urnas el 28 de febrero.
Lo mismo ocurrirá en el Distrito 3, sin contendiente independiente y puesto que deja luego de muchos años Greg Mosio, se medirán los candidatos Juan Martínez, contra Darren Lewis.
El Distrito 4 tendrá una dura batalla, donde dos hispano se juegan todo por desbancar al actual regidor, el demócrata Roudell Kirkwood, primeramente, Víctor M. Felix, también demócrata medirá fuerzas el 28 de abril, y posteriormente, el que resulte ganador, se enfrentará en las generales al independiente David Villalobos, quien ya fue concejal.
En el sexto puesto, los demócratas Brendan Stewart y Keith E. Turner, actual regidor, tendrán que definir en las primarias quien se quedará con el escaño, ya que no hay oponente independiente para las generales.
Félix L. Rivera, actual concejal independiente en el séptimo distrito, espera ganador en las primarias entre los demócratas Killian Skaronea y Michael Donnenwirth.
Asimismo, la demócrata Lynn Florian, deberá trabajar duro para vencer a su oponente Michael Hewitt para tener oportunidad de seguir en la contienda y seguir en el cargo que actualmente ostenta.
Y para saber quién será el regidor en el Distrito 9, puesto que dejó la actual alcaldesa de la ciudad Ann Taylor en manos del independiente Thomas J. Hayes, habrá que esperar hasta el 4 de abril cuando se defina la contienda contra la oponente sorpresa, Robin M. Oconnor, quien hasta hace unos días fuera la Secretaria del Condado de Lake.

Next January 28 marks an important date for the future of government decisions in this city, since they are the votes between Democrats and Republicans to define winners in the primary elections for municipal councilor.

District 4 will have a tough battle, where two Hispanics risk everything to unseat the current councilor, Democrat Roudell Kirkwood, first, Víctor M. Felix, also a Democrat, will measure forces on April 28, and later, the winner will will face the independent David Villalobos, who was already an alderman, in the general elections.
In sixth place, Democrats Brendan Stewart and Keith E. Turner, current councilor, will have to define in the primaries who will win the seat, since there is no independent opponent for the generals.
Felix L. Rivera, current independent councilman in the seventh district, hopes to win the primary between Democrats Killian Skaronea and Michael Donnenwirth.
Likewise, Democrat Lynn Florian will have to work hard to beat her opponent Michael Hewitt to have a chance to stay in the race and continue in the position she currently holds.
And to find out who will be the councilor in District 9, since he left the current mayor of the city Ann Taylor in the hands of the independent Thomas J. Hayes, we will have to wait until April 4 when the contest against the surprise opponent is defined, Robin M. O’Connor, who until a few days ago was the Lake County Clerk.
