Unincorporated Zion Critical Traffic Crash

Zion, IL. – On September 9, 2019, at approximately 12:15PM, Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to Russell Road and Kenosha Road, Unincorporated Zion, for a traffic crash with injuries. Sheriff’s Deputies arrived and found a box-truck collided with a minivan. The driver of the minivan required extrication from the vehicle to be freed.
Preliminary investigation shows the driver of the 1997 Ford Box Truck, a 69-year-old man of Winthrop Harbor, was traveling eastbound on Russell Road. The driver of the 1998 Dodge Grand Caravan, driven by an 89-year-old female of Beach Park, was traveling northbound on Kenosha Road. Kenosha Road is controlled by a stop sign for northbound and southbound traffic at the intersection, there is no traffic control device for eastbound and westbound Russell Road.
