Telecomunicador y dos oficiales del Sheriff del Condado de Lake reciben altas distinciones.

Lake County, IL. – Tres miembros de la Oficina del Sheriff del Condado de Lake recibieron altos honores del Centro Federal de Atención Médica Capitán James A. Lovell (FHCC) en North Chicago.
La telecomunicadora Monika Reum, los oficiales Francis Foy y Christopher Orlando recibieron el reconocimiento luego de estar en diferentes situaciones donde brindaron asistencia y recursos a veteranos con problemas mentales.
En septiembre de 2023, el uniformado Foy, asignado al Equipo de Apoyo y Alcance en Crisis (COaST, por sus siglas en inglés), acudió a la casa de un veterano en crisis. El ayudante Foy inmediatamente estableció una relación tranquila con el veterano, mientras generaba confianza en él. Foy utilizó ese fideicomiso establecido para facilitar el transporte del veterano a la FHCC para recibir la atención médica y de salud mental necesaria. Los altos directivos de la FHCC le dieron crédito a Foy por haber probablemente salvado la vida del veterano.
En octubre de 2023, el Telecomunicador Reum recibió una llamada telefónica de emergencia sobre un veterano con problemas mentales. El telecomunicador Reum se tomó el tiempo para hablar con empatía con la persona que llama y aprender información crucial. La telecomunicadora Reum envió al ayudante Christopher Orlando para que respondiera y ayudara al veterano. Gracias al tiempo que la telecomunicadora Reum dedicó a recopilar los detalles importantes, pudo brindarle al oficial Orlando información valiosa.
El oficial Orlando llegó al lugar y trató al veterano con compasión y respeto. Debido a su comportamiento tranquilo, se le atribuye haber evitado que la situación, ya de por sí de alto riesgo, se agravara. El oficial Orlando hizo arreglos para que el veterano fuera transportado a la FHCC para recibir tratamiento adicional y atención integral.
La telecomunicadora Reum, y los oficiales Foy y Orlando recibieron grandes elogios del director de la FHCC, el doctor Robert Grant Buckley, durante una ceremonia celebrada en la FHCC el 5 de febrero de 2024.
Sheriff members honored for aiding veterans
Three members of the Lake County Sheriff’s Office received high honors from the Captain James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center (FHCC) in North Chicago.
Telecommunicator Monika Reum, Deputy Francis Foy, and Deputy Christopher Orlando received the recognition after being in different situations where they provided assistance and resources to Veterans in mental distress.
In September of 2023, Deputy Foy, who is assigned to our Crisis Outreach and Support Team (COaST), responded to the home of a Veteran in crisis. Deputy Foy immediately established a calm rapport with the Veteran, while building trust with him. Deputy Foy utilized that established trust to facilitate the Veteran being transported to the FHCC for needed medical and mental health care. Senior leadership at the FHCC credited Deputy Foy with likely saving the Veteran’s life.
In October of 2023, Telecommunicator Reum took an emergency phone call regarding a Veteran in mental distress. Telecommunicator Reum took the time to speak empathetically to the caller and learn crucial information. Telecommunicator Reum dispatched Deputy Christopher Orlando to respond to assist the Veteran. Because of the time Telecommunicator Reum spent gathering the important details, she was able to provide Deputy Orlando with valuable information.
Deputy Orlando arrived at the scene and treated the Veteran with compassion and respect. Due to his calm demeanor, he is credited with preventing the already high-risk situation from escalating. Deputy Orlando arranged for the Veteran to be transported to the FHCC to receive further treatment and comprehensive care.
Telecommunicator Reum, Deputy Foy, and Deputy Orlando all received high praise from FHCC Director, Doctor Robert Grant Buckley, during a ceremony held at the FHCC on February 5, 2024.
