Volo, IL – Investigadores de accidentes de tráfico del Sheriff del Condado de Lake continúan la investigación un accidente de tráfico frontal el domingo por la noche donde varias personas resultaron con graves heridas.
El 21 de enero de 2024, aproximadamente a las 8:15 p.m., agentes del sheriff del condado de Lake acudieron a la Ruta 12 y Russell Avenue, Volo, por un accidente de tráfico frontal. Los agentes del sheriff llegaron y localizaron dos vehículos con graves daños.
Una investigación preliminar indica que un Ford Mustang, conducido por un hombre de 24 años de Fox Lake, viajaba en dirección norte por los carriles en dirección sur de la Ruta 12. El conductor del Ford chocó de frente contra un Mitsubishi Outlander en dirección sur, conducido por una mujer de 36 años de Deerfield.
El conductor del Mitsubishi sufrió heridas graves, como fractura de columna y hemorragia cerebral. El conductor del Ford resultó gravemente herido. Un pasajero del asiento delantero del Ford, un hombre de 23 años que no llevaba el cinturón de seguridad, sufrió heridas importantes, incluida la imposibilidad de sentir las piernas.
Los dos conductores y el pasajero fueron trasladados en ambulancia a hospitales de la zona. Se encontró un contenedor abierto de alcohol en el Ford y el deterioro parece ser un factor en el accidente.
El accidente sigue bajo investigación por parte del Equipo Técnico de Investigaciones de Accidentes de la Oficina del Sheriff del Condado de Lake.

Impairment suspected in serious Volo crash
Lake County Sheriff’s Traffic Crash Investigators continue investigating a Sunday evening head-on traffic crash.
On January 21, 2024, at approximately 8:15 p.m., Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to Route 12 and Russell Avenue, Volo, for a head-on traffic crash. Sheriff’s deputies arrived and located two vehicles with heavy damage.
A preliminary investigation indicates a Ford Mustang, driven by a 24-year-old man from Fox Lake, was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of Route 12. The driver of the Ford struck a southbound Mitsubishi Outlander, driven by a 36-year-old woman from Deerfield, head-on.
The driver of the Mitsubishi sustained critical injuries, consisting of a fractured spine and brain bleeding. The driver of the Ford sustained serious injuries. A front-seat passenger in the Ford, a 23-year-old man who was not wearing his seat belt, sustained significant injuries, including not being able to feel his legs.
The two drivers and the passenger were transported to area hospitals via ambulance. An open container of alcohol was located in the Ford, and impairment does appear to be a factor in the crash.
The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Team.
