Gurnee, IL. – El viernes 16 de agosto de 2024, aproximadamente a las 7:35 p. m., el Departamento de Policía de Gurnee respondió a un incidente de tránsito en la Ruta 41 en las vías del Ferrocarril Canadian Pacific que involucraba a un camión semirremolque y un Toyota Corolla 2010.
Un camión semirremolque, conducido por un hombre de 31 años de Cincinnati, Ohio, viajaba hacia el sur cuando el remolque del camión semirremolque chocó contra una viga de soporte del puente. El impacto provocó que el contenedor de carga se desprendiera del remolque y cayera sobre la carretera. Al mismo tiempo, el Toyota Corolla, conducido por una mujer de 29 años de Wilmette, Illinois, viajaba hacia el sur y quedó atrapado entre el contenedor caído y la barandilla.
Afortunadamente, no se reportaron heridos en este incidente. El Ferrocarril Canadian Pacific fue notificado de inmediato y detuvo el tráfico ferroviario para inspeccionar el puente en busca de daños. La carretera estuvo cerrada durante aproximadamente dos horas mientras los equipos trabajaban para despejar la escena.
El conductor del camión semirremolque fue citado por exceder la altura máxima del vehículo. No hubo otros vehículos involucrados en el accidente.
Traffic incident on Route 41
On Friday, August 16, 2024, at approximately 7:35 PM, the Gurnee Police Department responded to a traffic incident on Route 41 at the Canadian Pacific Railroad tracks involving a semi-truck and a 2010 Toyota Corolla.
A semi-truck, driven by a 31-year-old male from Cincinnati, OH, was traveling southbound when the semi-truck trailer struck a bridge support beam. The impact caused the freight container to detach from the trailer and fall onto the roadway. At the same time, the Toyota Corolla, driven by a 29-year-old female from Wilmette, IL, was traveling southbound and became pinned between the fallen container and the guardrail.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported in this incident. The Canadian Pacific Railroad was immediately notified and halted rail traffic to inspect the bridge for damage. The road was closed for approximately two hours while crews worked to clear the scene.
The driver of the semi-truck was cited for exceeding the maximum vehicle height. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
