Conductora ebria que aparte de chocar la patrulla y lesionar al policía, conducía con la licencia de manejo suspendida, llevaba alcohol e iba a exceso de velocidad, por lo que ahora está tras las rejas.
El 20 de septiembre de 2020, aproximadamente a las 2:20 a.m., un ayudante del Sheriff del Condado de Lake estaba en el área de Lewis Avenue y Laurel Avenue en Waukegan. El agente observó un Chevrolet Cruze que viajaba hacia el norte por Lewis Avenue a gran velocidad. El oficial registró el automóvil que viajaba a 63 MPH en una zona marcada de 35 MPH.
El oficial hizo un giro en U en un intento de detener el paso del Chevrolet. Inmediatamente después de que el oficial se dio la vuelta, la conductora del Chevrolet, Alisha Smith, de 35 años, de la cuadra 2900 de Willow Lane, Zion, se estrelló contra la parte trasera de un escuadrón de la policía de Waukegan, que fue detenido en Lewis Avenue en el área de Ballentine Street.
Smith luego continuó hacia el norte, donde su vehículo quedó inutilizado después de una corta distancia.
El sargento de policía, que dirigía la brigada de policía de Waukegan, fue trasladado a un hospital del área para su evaluación. Smith sufrió algunas lesiones en el accidente, pero se negó a recibir tratamiento médico.

-Exceso de velocidad.
-No reducir la velocidad para evitar un choque.
Smith permanece detenida en la cárcel del Condado de Lake a la espera de una audiencia de fianza esta mañana.
Todos los acusados se presumen inocentes a menos que se pruebe su culpabilidad en un tribunal de justicia.
Impaired Driver Crashes into Squad Car
Drunk driver who, apart from crashing the car and injuring the policeman, was driving with a suspended driver’s license, had alcohol and was speeding, so she is now behind bars.
On September 20, 2020, at approximately 2:20AM, a Lake County Sheriff’s Deputy was in the area of Lewis Avenue and Laurel Avenue in Waukegan. The deputy observed a Chevrolet Cruze traveling northbound on Lewis Avenue at a high rate of speed. The deputy clocked the car traveling 63MPH in a posted 35MPH zone.
The deputy made a U-turn in an attempt to initiate a traffic stop on the Chevrolet. Immediately after the deputy turned around, the driver of the Chevrolet, Alisha Smith, 35, of the 2900 block of Willow Lane, Zion, slammed into the rear of a Waukegan Police squad, which was stopped on Lewis Avenue in the area of Ballentine Street. Smith then continued northbound, where her vehicle became disabled after a short distance.
The police sergeant, who was operating the Waukegan Police squad, was transported to an area hospital for evaluation. Smith sustained some injuries in the crash but refused medical treatment.
Smith appeared heavily intoxicated and was arrested. After reviewing the facts of the incident, the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office approved the following charges:
-Criminal Damage to Government-Supported Property (Class 3 Felony)
-DUI – Alcohol (Class A Misdemeanor)
Driving with a Suspended Driver’s License (Class A Misdemeanor)
-Unlawful Use of a Driver’s License (Class A Misdemeanor)
-Illegal Transportation of Alcohol.
-Speeding.
-Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid a Crash.
Smith remains held in the Lake County Jail pending a bond hearing this morning.
All defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
