Waukegan, IL. – Detectives del Sheriff del Condado de Lake arrestaron a un hombre de Waukegan por posesión de numerosas imágenes y videos de pornografía infantil, muchos de ellos relacionados con niños menores de 13 años.
Los detectives recibieron una pista de un proveedor de correo electrónico que indicaba que un dispositivo en el Condado de Lake enviaba por correo electrónico presuntamente pornografía infantil. Los detectives del Sheriff iniciaron una investigación y, con base en ella, determinaron que la fuente probable provenía de un apartamento en la cuadra 3300 de Sunset Avenue, Waukegan.
Obtuvieron una orden de registro para la residencia y la llevaron a cabo junto con la Fiscalía General de Illinois y la Fiscalía Estatal del Condado de Lake el 18 de septiembre de 2025. El perro de detección electrónica Grip de la Fiscalía Estatal del Condado de Lake y el perro Enzo del Sheriff colaboraron en la búsqueda e incautaron dispositivos electrónicos que contenían docenas de imágenes y videos de pornografía infantil de menores de 13 años, pertenecientes a Thomas Castillo, de 65 años, residente de la misma residencia.
Tras revisar los hechos y las circunstancias de la investigación, la Fiscalía Estatal del Condado de Lake aprobó cinco cargos de posesión de pornografía infantil contra Castillo. Es posible que se presenten cargos adicionales.
El sheriff John D. Idleburg declaró: «Nuestra Unidad de Delitos Cibernéticos, incluyendo al perro de detección electrónica Enzo, es incansable en la búsqueda de depredadores infantiles. Tan solo este año, han realizado docenas de investigaciones que han resultado en el arresto de numerosos delincuentes que se aprovechan de nuestros niños. Seguiremos haciendo todo lo posible para proteger a nuestros niños y a los más vulnerables».
Castillo permanece detenido en la Cárcel del Condado de Lake a la espera de una audiencia judicial inicial. La Fiscalía Estatal del Condado de Lake tiene la intención de presentar una solicitud para detener a Castillo mientras espera el juicio. Todos los acusados se presumen inocentes a menos que se demuestre su culpabilidad en un tribunal.
Arrest Waukegan child pornographer
Lake County Sheriff’s Detectives arrested a Waukegan man for possessing numerous images and videos of child pornography, many involving children under the age of 13.
Lake County Sheriff’s Detectives received a tip from an email provider indicating a device in Lake County emailed suspected child pornography. Sheriff’s detectives began an investigation and based on their investigation determined the likely source was coming from an apartment in the 3300 block of Sunset Avenue, Waukegan.
Sheriff’s detectives obtained a search warrant for the residence and conducted that search warrant with the Illinois Attorney General’s Office and Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office on September 18, 2025. Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office Electronic Detection K9 Grip and Sheriff’s Electronic Detection K9 Enzo assisted with the search. During their search, detectives seized electronics that contained dozens of child pornography images and videos of children under the age of 13, belonging to Thomas Castillo, 65, of the same residence.
After reviewing the facts and circumstances of the investigation, the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office approved five counts of possessing child pornography against Castillo. Additional charges are possible.
Sheriff John D. Idleburg said, “Our Cybercrime Unit, including Electronic Detection K9 Enzo, is relentless in the search for child predators. This year alone, they’ve conducted dozens of investigations that have resulted in the arrests of numerous offenders preying on our children. We will continue doing everything possible to protect our children and our most vulnerable.”
Castillo remains held in the Lake County Jail pending an initial court hearing. The Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office intends to file a petition to detain Castillo while he awaits trial. All defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
