Waukegan, IL. – Dos personas han sido acusadas de asesinato por el homicidio de una mujer en North Chicago. Luego de una extensa investigación, investigadores del Grupo de Trabajo contra Delitos Mayores del Condado de Lake y el Departamento de Policía de North Chicago arrestaron a Seferino Calihua-Rodríguez, de 35 años, residente de la cuadra 1500 de Hamilton Court, y a Misael Chavarin-Plazola, de 26 años, de la cuadra 700 de Linden Lane, en Waukegan.
La investigación reveló que Calihua-Rodríguez tenía una relación previa con la víctima. La relación terminó, dejando a Calihua-Rodríguez molesto. Calihua Rodríguez decidió contratar a Chavarin Plazola para matar a la víctima.
El 22 de septiembre de 2023, Chavarin-Plazola siguió adelante con el acto, disparando y matando a la víctima. También intentó matar a una segunda persona que entraba al vehículo con la víctima, sin embargo, falló y no hirió a la otra persona.
Calihua Rodríguez fue arrestado el 22 y Chavarin Plazola fue arrestado el 23 de septiembre, respectivamente. Después de revisar los hechos y circunstancias del incidente, la Oficina del Fiscal Estatal del Condado de Lake aprobó los siguientes cargos:

Ambos sospechosos deberán comparecer ante el Tribunal de Primera Comparecencia el lunes. La Oficina Forense del Condado de Lake todavía está intentando notificar a los familiares de la víctima. El 22 de septiembre de 2023, aproximadamente a las 6:05 a.m., agentes de policía de North Chicago respondieron a un informe de disparos en la cuadra 1000 de Victoria Avenue, North Chicago. Los agentes llegaron y encontraron a una mujer adulta muerta a tiros.
La investigación preliminar muestra que la víctima salió de una residencia en el área y regresó a un vehículo estacionado en un camino de entrada en la calle 11. Poco después de sentarse en el vehículo, uno o varios desconocidos se acercaron a la víctima y le dispararon. Ella sufrió heridas graves y fue declarada muerta en el lugar.

Two people have been charged with murder
Two people have been charged with murder in the homicide of a North Chicago woman. Following an extensive investigation Lake County Major Crime Task Force Investigators and North Chicago Police Department arrested Seferino Calihua-Rodriguez, 35, of the 1500 block of Hamilton Court, Waukegan, and Misael Chavarin-Plazola, 26, of the 700 block of Linden Lane, Waukegan.
The investigation revealed Calihua-Rodriguez had a previous relationship with the victim. The relationship ended, leaving Calihua-Rodriguez upset. Calihua-Rodriguez decided to hire Chavarin-Plazola to kill the victim.
On September 22, 2023, Chavarin-Plazola followed through with the act, shooting and killing the victim. He also attempted to kill a second person who was entering the vehicle with the victim, however, he missed and did not strike the other person.
Calihua-Rodriguez was arrested on September 22nd and Chavarin-Plazola were arrested on September 23rd. After reviewing the facts and circumstances of the incident the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office approved the following charges:

Two counts of First-Degree Murder
Solicitation of Murder for Hire
Attempt First-Degree Murder
Chavarin-Plazola:
Two counts of First-Degree Murder
Attempt First-Degree Murder
Both suspects are due in First Appearance Court on Monday. The Lake County Coroner’s Office is still attempting to make notification to the victim’s next of kin. Following the notification the Coroner’s Office will provide an update. All defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
Homicide investigation
Lake County Major Crime Task Force Investigators and North Chicago Police are investigating an early morning homicide that occurred on Victoria Avenue in North Chicago. On September 22, 2023, at approximately 6:05 a.m., North Chicago Police Officers responded to a report of shots fired in the 1000 block of Victoria Avenue, North Chicago. Officers arrived and found an adult woman fatally shot.
Preliminary investigation shows the victim left a residence in the area and returned to a vehicle parked in a driveway on 11th Street. Shortly after sitting down in the vehicle, an unknown person(s) approached the victim and shot her. She sustained major injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Based on the information gathered thus far, it appears this was a targeted shooting. The shooter(s) fled from the scene immediately following the shooting.
North Chicago Police requested the assistance of the Lake County Major Crime Task Force to assist in the investigation. Additional information will be released by the Lake County Coroner’s Office. The victim has not yet been positively identified. The investigation remains ongoing at this time.
