Gurnee, IL. – Detectives de la Oficina del Sheriff del Condado de Lake arrestaron hoy a un maestro del área de Gurnee por difundir pornografía infantil.
Los detectives de la Oficina del Sheriff del Condado de Lake recibieron una pista de una red social sobre que uno de sus usuarios podría haber compartido pornografía infantil con otro usuario de su plataforma. Los detectives iniciaron una investigación y, con base en ella, determinaron que la fuente probable provenía de una residencia ubicada en la cuadra 300 de Buckingham Drive, Grayslake.
Los detectives obtuvieron una orden de registro para la residencia y la llevaron a cabo junto con la Fiscalía General de Illinois. Durante la búsqueda, los detectives recuperaron el dispositivo probablemente utilizado para compartir pornografía infantil por el agresor, Todd R. Fowler, de 47 años, residente de la misma residencia en Grayslake.
Investigaciones posteriores revelaron que Fowler es maestro en la Escuela Primaria Woodland en Gurnee. Con base en la investigación, los detectives del sheriff creen que, además de poseer y difundir pornografía infantil, Fowler tomó fotos publicadas en redes sociales por estudiantes de la zona y sus padres y las compartió con pedófilos de todo el país.
El sheriff John D. Idleburg declaró: “Este es un delito despreciable, especialmente cuando lo comete alguien a quien se le ha confiado ser una influencia positiva en nuestra juventud. Las acciones de una sola persona no reflejan la labor de miles de maestros y educadores dedicados y trabajadores de nuestra comunidad. Por lo tanto, esto sirve de recordatorio de la importancia crucial que los padres supervisen con quién se comunican sus hijos y les recuerden regularmente los peligros de las redes sociales e internet”.
Se está realizando un examen forense de dispositivos electrónicos. La Fiscalía Estatal del Condado de Lake aprobó los cargos de Difusión de Pornografía Infantil y Posesión de Pornografía Infantil.
Es posible que se presenten cargos adicionales, a la espera de los resultados del examen forense electrónico. Fowler permanece detenido en la Cárcel del Condado de Lake. Un juez del condado de Lake concedió la petición del Estado de detener a Todd Fowler, de 47 años, quien enfrenta dos cargos de difusión de pornografía infantil (delito grave de clase X) y un cargo de posesión de pornografía infantil (delito grave de clase 2).

Teacher Arrested for Sending Child Porn
Lake County Sheriff’s Detectives arrested a Gurnee-area teacher for disseminating child pornography today.
Lake County Sheriff’s Detectives received a tip from a social media company that one of their users may have shared child pornography to another user of their platform. Sheriff’s detectives began an investigation and based on their investigation, determined the likely source was coming from a residence in the 300 block of Buckingham Drive, Grayslake.
Sheriff’s detectives obtained a search warrant for the residence and conducted that search warrant today with the Illinois Attorney General’s Office. During their search, detectives recovered the device likely used to share child pornography by the offender, Todd R. Fowler, 47, of the above Grayslake residence.
Further investigation revealed Fowler is a teacher at Woodland Elementary School in Gurnee. Based on the investigation sheriff’s detectives believe, in addition to possessing and disseminating child pornography, that Fowler took photos posted to social media by area students and their parents and shared them with pedophiles from across the country.
Sheriff John D. Idleburg said, “This is a despicable crime especially when committed by someone entrusted to be a positive influence on our youth. The actions of one individual do not reflect the thousands of hardworking, dedicated teachers and educators in our community. With that, this is a reminder that it is critically important for parents to monitor who their children are communicating with and to regularly remind them about the dangers of social media and the internet.”
A forensic examination of electronics is underway. The Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office approved the charges of: Disseminating Child Pornography and Possession of Child Pornography.
Additional charges are possible, pending the results of the electronic forensic examination. Fowler remains held in the Lake County Jail.
A Lake County Judge granted the State’s petition to detain Todd Fowler, 47, who is being charged with two counts of Disseminating Child Pornography (Class X Felony), and one count of Possessing Child Pornography, (Class 2 Felony).
The Woodland School District has been cooperative and collaborative during the entirety of this investigation.
