Mundelein, IL. – Mundelein High School’s swim and diving head coach, Rahul Sethna, was voted IHSA Sectional Swimming Coach of the Year at the sectional at Lake Forest High School November 10. The honor was voted on by his peers at the meet.
“This speaks volumes about the job that Rahul does in the swimming circles,” said Troy Parola, MHS athletic director. “He is well respected and is sending six athletes to compete at state this weekend.”
Sethna joined the MHS teaching and coaching staffs in 1997 and has had many outstanding swimming and diving teams during his tenure.
“This is more of a program award as I have great assistant coaches in Kristi Rizzo and Bill Owens, and great kids and parents,” he said. [Our success] is also due to the help of the PE strength teachers Craig Stocker, Bridget Erickson, Todd Parola, Nancy Toland, Kelli Goodwin and Justin Hart who worked with all of our athletes. The award speaks volumes about all of them as well.”
The IHSA State swimming and diving competition will be held Nov. 16-17 at Evanston Township High School. Sethna may be reached at 847-949-2200, Extension 1168 or at rsethna@d120.org
