Son para niños afectados por violencia doméstica

Gurnee, IL.- La representante estatal Joyce Mason, D-Gurnee, y su Consejo Asesor de Mujeres reunieron recientemente kits de “Bolsas de cumpleaños” para ser distribuidos a los refugios locales de violencia doméstica como una manera de ayudar a los niños a celebrar sus cumpleaños mientras se recuperan de situaciones peligrosas.
“Es fácil olvidar cómo las mujeres y los niños sacrifican los lujos cotidianos mientras escapan de situaciones peligrosas en casa. A menudo, los sobrevivientes de violencia doméstica tienen solo minutos para dejar sus hogares y dejar atrás la mayoría de sus pertenencias.
Los niños que se enfrentan a una situación de violencia doméstica tienen suficiente para preocuparse y lo suficiente para sacrificarse, y darles la oportunidad de mantener la normalidad de algo tan rutinario como una fiesta de cumpleaños es tan importante para ayudar a estos niños a sanar y seguir adelante”, dijo Mason.
“El cumpleaños en una bolsa de regalo, es un pequeño gesto para asegurar que, incluso en los momentos más difíciles, los niños que son atendidos por nuestros refugios locales de violencia doméstica puedan celebrar su cumpleaños con sus familias como cualquier otro niño”.
Los suministros de “Bolsa de cumpleaños” fueron donados por Mason, miembros de su Consejo Asesor de Mujeres y miembros de la comunidad. Las bolsas serán donadas a A Safe Place y distribuidas a niños y familias necesitadas.

Mason Assembles Birthday Kits
Kits are for Children Impacted by Domestic Violence
State Rep. Joyce Mason, D-Gurnee, and her Women’s Advisory Council recently assembled “Birthday in a Bag” kits to be distributed to local domestic violence shelters as a way to help children celebrate their birthdays while recovering from dangerous situations.
“It’s easy to forget how women and children sacrifice everyday luxuries while escaping dangerous situations at home. Oftentimes, domestic violence survivors have just minutes to leave their homes and leave most of their belongings behind. Children who are facing a domestic violence situation have enough to worry about and enough to sacrifice, and giving them an opportunity to maintain the normalcy of something as routine as a birthday party is so important to helping these kids heal and move forward,” Mason said.
“The birthday in a bag kits are a small gesture to ensure that, even during the most difficult times, children being served by our local domestic violence shelters are able to celebrate their birthday with their families just like every other kid.”
The “Birthday in a Bag” supplies were donated by Mason, members of her Women’s Advisory Council and members of the community. The bags will be donated to A Safe Place and distributed to children and families in need.
