Waukegan, IL. – I hope some of you will take to heart the ideas from last week to get out of the house as a family and enjoy live shows! Even if your whole family cannot come for one particular concert, take as much of your family as you can, engaging in this important quality time together. Or come by yourself and meet friends.
Some people have the idea that some styles of music are difficult to understand or enjoy, especially for children. Children more than anyone, need the exposure to many kinds of music and other cultural experiences to grow up into well-rounded, well-educated citizens.
Often they love best the more traditional & organized types of music, especially loving classical music. Or traditional brass band music. Certainly it is good for everyone to know how to attend a concert – these are great genres to start off new concert-goers.
Steiner Pavilion Concerts
Starting out with experiences where kids can wiggle a little is a good idea, especially if they are very young or simply a bit “wiggly.” The Waukegan Band plays lively FREE concerts every Tuesday evening at Steiner Pavilion (by the beach) starting at 7:30 pm. Usually the Waukegan Park District Art Bus or other fun activities are present. There’s tons of room for kids to dance and run around in the back.
Bring a picnic dinner, and enjoy a spectacular sunset as the terrific music plays. Bring your own chairs or blanket to sit on, and don’t forget a jacket, even if it’s really hot west of Sheridan Road! This is SUCH a relaxing and wonderful time – you’ll all sleep better too!
