Zion, IL. – 22 estudiantes de octavo grado de la Escuela Secundaria Zion Central ingresaron a la National Junior Honor Society (NJHS, por sus siglas en ingles) el pasado miércoles 30 de octubre. NJHS es una organización internacional de estudiantes que eleva el compromiso de una escuela con los valores de erudición, servicio, liderazgo, carácter y ciudadanía.
NJHS de ZCMS es para estudiantes de octavo grado que tuvieron un promedio de calificaciones (GPA) acumulativo de al menos 3.5 en su séptimo año y mostraron un comportamiento/carácter positivo. Esos estudiantes fueron invitados a una breve reunión de orientación y se les dio la oportunidad de pedir la membresía.
El aspecto principal de la aplicación NJHS es un ensayo escrito, que compartió cómo promueven los cinco pilares de NJHS en su vida. NJHS no solo enfatiza y celebra el logro académico, sino que también pone énfasis en el servicio.
Los estudiantes de NJHS completan varios proyectos de servicio grupal a lo largo del año, y también deben realizar horas de servicio individuales. Si los estudiantes asisten regularmente a reuniones, participan en proyectos de servicio grupal, realizan ocho horas de servicio individual, mantienen al menos un promedio de 3.5 y muestran un comportamiento respetuoso durante todo el año, cumplir los requisitos para graduarse con honores de NJHS y tendrán la distinción de usar lasos especiales con su vestido ¡Somos # D6Proud de nuestros estudiantes de NJHS!
Students Inducted into the NJHS
On Wednesday, October 30th, 22 eighth grade students at Zion Central Middle School were inducted into the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS). NJHS is an international student organization that elevates a school’s commitment to the values of scholarship, service, leadership, character, and citizenship. ZCMS NJHS is for eighth graders who had at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA for their 7th grade year and displayed positive behavior/character.
Those students were invited to a brief orientation meeting and were given the chance to apply for membership. The main aspect of the NJHS application is a written essay, which shared how they promote the five pillars of NJHS in their life.
NJHS not only emphasizes and celebrates academic achievement, but there is also an emphasis on service. Students in NJHS complete several group service projects throughout the year, and are required to perform individual service hours as well.
If students regularly attend meetings, participate in group service projects, perform eight individual service hours, maintain at least a 3.5 GPA, and display respectful behavior all year, they will meet the requirements to graduate with NJHS honors and have the distinction of wearing special cords with their gown.
