Mundelein, IL.- With the astounding success last year of Carl Sandburg Middle School’s first-ever musical, Beauty and the Beast, the school has decided to stage another musical this year, Aladdin. The musical will be performed at Lincoln School Thursday, January 31 and Friday, February 1 at 7 pm as well as Saturday February 2 at 2 pm and 7 pm.
Every student who auditioned for the production will have the opportunity to be involved in the production in some way. Even if not cast in a part for the stage, students will embrace roles in the technical aspects of the production as well as costumes and make-up. “The musical isn’t just for those involved in the arts already. It his broadens to other students — those involved in cheer, that have a dance background or are in choir,” said CSMS teacher and musical director Moulee Gupta. “There is a role for everyone who wanted to be involved in this.” CSMS Principal Mark Pilut states, “It’s another way to build our climate and culture and get kids involved in our school community. Whether it prepares them for high school or life, this is an opportunity for that.”
Like last year’s musical, the production of Aladdin is a true community undertaking, tapping into the talents of staff, parents, administration, and board members.
Tickets will be sold online this year through a link on the Mundelein School District 75 website. Sales should begin in early January.
