Zion, IL.- La Dra. Keely Roberts, Superintendente del Distrito Escolar 6 de Zion habló de los avances académicos y de la integración entre los padres y los alumnos desde su llegada al distrito, cuando la educación estaba en una posición muy lamentable.
“Actualmente la situación académica es fantástica, hemos luchado mucho para elevar el nivel educativo de nuestros alumnos, y trabajando en conjunto, padres, maestros y estudiantes, se ha podido elevar las calificaciones, pues históricamente, hemos sido un distrito escolar de bajo rendimiento”, dijo la Superintendente.
Asegura que, ahora, después de su llegada hace 5 años, el panorama es otro, están orgullosos de sus estudiantes, del personal docente y pueden decir con orgullo que este año todas las escuelas tienen una calificación de encomiable y los alumnos de nivel intermedio han salido de lo más bajo y muestran un mejoramiento destacado, ya que están creciendo, están logrando sus metas, y el distrito está increíblemente orgullosos de ellos y de sus familias.
Planes futuros
“Sí, tenemos grandes planes a futuro, seguimos pensando en avanzar en términos de crecimiento cuando todos nuestros hijos continúen creciendo. Nuestros niños son increíblemente inteligentes, son increíblemente talentosos y continúan mereciendo las oportunidades que los niños de todo el país merecen.
Así que pensamos en la programación para prepararlos para un futuro, no solo ahora, sino un futuro cuando sean adultos. Hemos abierto programas de lenguaje dual (inglés y español) en el distrito, muy orgullosos de eso. Todos los niños en nuestra comunidad tienen la oportunidad de inscribirse en un idioma dual. Hemos abierto una carrera en el programa de preparación para la universidad a la escuela intermedia para que nuestros estudiantes tengan la oportunidad de inscribirse en la programación de emprendimiento, en artes culinarias y programación de oficios.
Continuamos empujando los límites cuando se trata de pensar no solo en lo que siempre ha hecho el distrito, sino también en lo que el distrito siempre ha estado haciendo y qué debería seguir haciendo este distrito, ahora y en el futuro, y continuaremos haciéndolo”, aseveró Keely Roberts.
Programa BPAC y PAC
Asimismo, agrega que con reestructuración de programas importantes como lo son Bilingual Parent Advisory Committee (BPAC) and Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) se ha logrado llegar a las familias y reactivar la confianza para que participen en las actividades escolares y ayuden a sus hijos.
“Tenemos muchas actividades programadas en nuestro calendario escolar que ayudará a la motivación de la familias y al crecimiento del nuestro nivel académico”, añade la Superintendente Keely Roberts.

Evolve Z6 in the right way
Dr. Keely Roberts, Superintendent of Zion School District 6 spoke of academic advances and integration between parents and students since arriving in the district, when education was in a very unfortunate position.
“Currently the academic situation is fantastic, we have struggled a lot to raise the educational level of our students, and working together, parents, teachers and students, it has been possible to raise grades, because historically, we have been a low-performing school district,” said the Superintendent.
He assures that, now, after his arrival 5 years ago, the panorama is different, they are proud of their students, of the teaching staff and can proudly say that this year all schools have a commendable grade and intermediate students have left the lowest and show a marked improvement, as they are growing, they are achieving their goals, and the district is incredibly proud of them and their families.
Future plans
“Yes, we have big plans for the future, we keep thinking about moving forward in terms of growth when all our children continue to grow. Our children are incredibly intelligent, incredibly talented and continue to deserve the opportunities that children across the country deserve.
So we think about programming to prepare them for a future, not only now, but a future when they are adults. We have opened dual language programs (English and Spanish) in the district, very proud of that. All children in our community have the opportunity to enroll in a dual language. We have opened a career in the college preparation program to middle school so that our students have the opportunity to enroll in entrepreneurship programming, culinary arts and craft programming.
We continue to push the boundaries when it comes to thinking not only of what the district has always done, but also what the district has always been doing and what this district should continue to do, now and in the future, and we will continue to do so,” Keely Roberts said.

He also adds that with the restructuring of important programs such as the Bilingual Parent Advisory Committee (BPAC) and the Parent Advisory Committee (PAC), it has been possible to reach families and reaffirm the confidence to participate in school activities and help their children.
“We have many activities scheduled in our school calendar that will help motivate families and grow our academic level,” adds Superintendent Keely Roberts.
