Hasta hoy, el gobierno hace hasta lo imposible porque las personas eviten ir a las urnas a emitir su voto, por cuestiones del coronavirus, y recalcan, según ellos, la importancia de votar por correo.
Y ustedes, mis queridos tres o cuatro lectores, prefieren ir en la manera tradicional o harán todo el trámite de solicitar por correo la boleta.
En lo personal, esta iniciativa no termina de convencerme, la de votar por correo, aun y cuando los empleados de la oficina postal sean confiables y hagan un excelente trabajo.
En todos lados, desde la apertura a los negocios, se toman medidas sanitarias, la gente usa cubrebocas, gel antibacterial, se lava las manos, aplica el distanciamiento, y ya no muy fácil vamos y nos amontonamos en una fila.
Bajo estos lineamientos de sanidad, por qué querer que las votaciones se hagan por correo, tal vez haya ciudades muy grandes donde las filas son interminables y pueda que aplique esta necesidad.
Pero también está la opción anticipada de votar en cualquier casilla electoral para evitar el amontonamiento el día de la votación general.
A estas fechas, los votantes han recibido una reciente notificación de parte del Secretario del Estado alertándoles que no han solicitado una boleta de votación por correo para las elecciones de noviembre.
Y aunque hay poco interés y sobretodo desconfianza de solicitar la boleta por correo, hay quienes ya han pedido su boleta y está en proceso de votar anticipadamente.
A partir del 24 de septiembre, las boletas de la votación por correo serán enviadas a los votantes del Condado de Lake que previamente hayan solicitado una, y las boletas comenzarán a llegar a las residencias de los votantes la siguiente semana. Incluida con su boleta habrá información para su devolución, incluyendo la ubicación de las 21 cajas oficiales para la devolución de su boleta sin tener que pagar estampilla postal.
Sin duda es un proceso complicado, y si la boleta llega a estar en su casa, y no lo digo por desalentarlo a utilizar este método, corre el riesgo de algún accidente, que le pueda caer agua, café, refresco, en fin, o que alguien más pueda hacer mal uso de ella sin que usted se dé cuenta y termine perdiendo su derecho al voto.
Así que como dice el dicho: “Más ‘marrado, más seguro”, mejor voy a mi urna de costumbre, voto en mi casilla cuando sea mi tiempo, y evito cualquier posible desaguisado.
Me gusta ver que mi boleta ingrese a la máquina que contabiliza los votos, ver que cambie el contador, y sentirme satisfecho de haber realizado el mejor derecho que tenemos en este país.
Ya que, si el gobernante que hayamos elegido no da el ancho, pues ahí ya no podemos hacer nada, pero lo importante es votar y hacerlo pensando en aquellos que aún no pueden hacerlo.

Vote at the polling place or by mail
Until today, the government does the impossible because people avoid going to the polls to cast their vote, due to coronavirus issues, and emphasize, according to them, the importance of voting by mail.
And you, my dear three or four readers, prefer to go the traditional way or you will do all the paperwork of requesting the ballot by mail.
Personally, this initiative does not convince me, to vote by mail, even if the employees of the post office are reliable and do an excellent job.
Everywhere, from opening to businesses, sanitary measures are taken, people wear face masks, antibacterial gel, wash their hands, apply social distancing, and it is not very easy anymore we go and pile up in a row.
Under these sanitation guidelines, why want voting to be done by mail? There may be very large cities where the lines are endless and this need may apply.
But there is also the early option to vote at any polling place to avoid crowding on general voting day.
As of this date, voters have received a recent notification from the Secretary of State alerting them that they have not requested a vote-by-mail ballot for the November elections.
And although there is little interest and, above all, distrust in requesting the ballot by mail, there are those who have already requested their ballot and are in the process of voting early.
Beginning September 24, vote-by-mail ballots will be mailed to Lake County voters who previously requested one, and the ballots will begin arriving at voters’ residences the following week. Included with your ballot will be information for your return, including the location of the 21 official boxes for returning your ballot without having to pay postage.
Without a doubt, it is a complicated process, and if the ballot arrives at your home, and I am not saying this to discourage you from using this method, you run the risk of an accident, that you could drop water, coffee, soda, in short, or that someone else can misuse it without you realizing it and end up losing your right to vote.
So, as the saying goes: “More tied up, safer”, I better go to my usual ballot box, vote in my box when it is my time, and avoid any possible mess.
I like to see my ballot enter the machine that counts the votes, see the counter change, and feel satisfied that I have done the best right we have in this country.
Since, if the ruler that we have chosen does not give the width, then there we can do nothing, but the important thing is to vote and do it thinking about those who still cannot do it.
