A todo santo se llega su hora, y el día de las elecciones generales para elegir presidente de los Estados Unidos está en cuenta regresiva, mis queridos tres o cuatro lectores.
Independientemente de por quién vaya a votar, ya sea por Donald Trump o su contrincante, Joe Biden, salga y haga valer su derecho al sufragio.
Y nivel condado, también tenemos elecciones y se pone la contienda color de hormiga, pues la llamada ola azul demócrata pretende hacerse de todos los puestos gubernamentales, pero hay ciertas posiciones donde la población vota por la persona y no por el partido, así que las elecciones se tornan interesantes.
Por nuestra parte, hemos dado algunas recomendaciones y respaldo, de manera apartidista, a ciertos candidatos que consideramos son los apropiados para el cargo.
Pero ya depende de usted tomar la decisión final, y recalco, lo importante es salir a votar y hacer nuestro mejor papel en este proceso, del cual, ya estamos cansados de violencia, de actos discriminatorios, de abuso a la mujer, de racismo y mucho más.
Déjeme decirle que la Secretaria del Condado de Lake, Robin M. O’Connor, anima a todos los ciudadanos a asegurarse de que su voz sea escuchada votando en las elecciones generales del 3 de noviembre de 2020. Si los horarios ocupados o los planes de viaje le dificultan votar el día de las elecciones, recuerde que puede votar por adelantado o por correo.
Votación por correo
Debido a COVID-19, alentamos a todos los votantes registrados a que voten por correo desde la seguridad y comodidad de su hogar y eviten las filas durante la votación anticipada o el día de las elecciones. La solicitud de boleta electrónica o en papel requerida debe recibirse en la oficina del secretario del condado de Lake antes de las 5:00 p.m. Del jueves 29 de octubre, último día en que la oficina del secretario puede enviar una boleta por correo.
Votación anticipada
La votación anticipada está abierta en 17 ubicaciones convenientes. Puede utilizar cualquier sitio de votación anticipada independientemente de dónde viva en el condado de Lake. Every saint’s time has come, and the day of the general election to elect the president of the United States is counting down, my dear three or four readers.
Regardless of who you’re voting for, whether it’s Donald Trump or his opponent, Joe Biden, go out and assert your right to vote.
And at the county level, we also have elections and the ant-colored contest is put on, because the so-called Democratic blue wave aims to take over all government positions, but there are certain positions where the population votes for the person and not for the party, so the elections become interesting.
For our part, we have given some recommendations and endorsement, in a nonpartisan way, to certain candidates that we consider are appropriate for the position.
But it is up to you to make the final decision, and I emphasize, the important thing is to go out to vote and do our best role in this process, of which, we are already tired of violence, discriminatory acts, abuse of women, racism and much more.
Lake County Clerk Robin M. O’Connor encourages all citizens to make sure your voice is heard by voting in the November 3, 2020 General Election. If busy schedules or travel plans make it difficult for you to vote on Election Day, remember you can vote early or by mail.
Voting by Mail
Due to COVID-19, we are encouraging all registered voters to vote by mail from the safety and comfort of your home and avoid lines during Early Voting or on Election Day. The required electronic or paper ballot application must be received at the Lake County Clerk’s office by 5 PM on Thursday, October 29, the last day the clerk’s office can mail a ballot.
Early Voting
Early Voting is open at 17 convenient locations. You may use any Early Voting site regardless of where you live in Lake County. All Early Voting sites are open weekdays from 8:30 AM to 7 PM and weekends from 9 AM to 5 PM through November 1. On Monday, November 2, only four locations (Gurnee Village Hall, and Addams Center, Lake County Main Courthouse Lobby, and North Chicago City Hall) will be open, and the hours are 8:30 AM to 7 PM.
Election Day
Election Day is Tuesday, November 3, and all Election Day voting sites will be open from 6 AM to 7 PM. On Election Day, you can vote at your assigned neighborhood voting site, the Lake County Main Courthouse Lobby in Waukegan, or the Lake County Fairgrounds.
When Voting in Person
Bring your own black or blue ink pen to sign your application and mark your ballot (No markers, please!).
We strongly encourage you to wear a face covering.
Practice social distancing at the voting site.
