Mi nombre es Juanita Black y mi esposo es Charles Black nuestro negocio comenzó en 1995 en Zion, IL., con un puesto de hot dogs.
Hemos estado haciendo restaurantes y eventos al aire libre durante más de 20 años en todo el condado de Lake. Siempre hemos tratado de retribuir y apoyar a nuestra comunidad donando, participando en diferentes lugares y brindando comidas gratuitas para las personas sin hogar y de la tercera edad en las cenas de Acción de Gracias.
Estaba sentada en mi casa, sintiendo que tenía que hacer cuando Dios entró en mi espíritu para ayudar a los trabajadores de primera línea, así que le dije Charles: “Oye, ¿qué piensas sobre alimentar a los trabajadores en el Hospital Vista?”.
Y sin pensarlo un segundo su respuesta fue: “Sí, hagámoslo”.
Le dije que iba a financiar todo en cuanto al costo de la comida y cualquier otra cosa, y llamé a una amiga nuestra y le pregunté qué pensaba al respecto y, sin pensarlo dos veces, estaba a bordo, su nombre es Dr. Donna King de North Chicago Foss Park District.
Al día siguiente comenzamos a llamar a Vista para que le explicara cómo y con quién tendríamos que hablar sobre esto, obtuvimos el visto bueno y pusimos en práctica el plan y debo decir que fue un éxito.
Los trabajadores de la primera línea del Vista Medical Center East estaban muy agradecidos. Por lo tanto, hemos decidido alimentar al Departamento de Bomberos y Policía del North Chicago el viernes 17 de abril.
Tendremos una cena que consistirá en bagre frito, espagueti, verduras, refrescos y aguas. Después de eso, la semana siguiente alimentaremos al hogar de ancianos Grove en Zion y más hospitales como Lake Forest y Condell. El condado de Lake ha apoyado a C&J's Restaurant desde siempre y creo firmemente que no estaríamos donde estamos sin Zion, North Chicago y Waukegan gracias a todos.

My name is Juanita Black myself and my husband Charles Black started our business in 1995 in Zion IL with a Hot Dog Stand. We have been doing restaurants and outdoor events for 20 plus years throughout Lake County. We have always tried to give back and support our community by donating, participating in different venues as well as providing free meals for the homeless and seniors for Thanks Giving Dinners.
I was just sitting around the house feeling like it was something that I needed to be doing when God dropped it in my spirit to help the front line workers so I said hey Charles what do you think about feeding the workers at Vista Hospital and without a second thought his reply was yes let’s do it. I told him that I would fund everything as far as the cost for the food and whatever else, and I called a friend of ours and asked her what she thought about it and again without a second thought she was on board her name is Dr. Donna King from North Chicago Foss Park Dist. The very next day we began calling Vista to see how and who we would need to talk to regarding this we got the go ahead and put the plan into action and I must say it was a success. The Front Line Workers from Vista Medical Center East was very grateful. So we have decided to feed the North Chicago Fire and Police Department on Friday the 17th of April we will be dropping of a dinner which will consist of Fried Catfish, Spaghetti, Veggies, sodas and Waters. After that we will be feeding the Grove nursing home in Zion the following week and more hospitals like Lake Forest and Condell. Lake County has supported C&J's Restaurant forever and I strongly believe that we would not be where we are without Zion, North Chicago and Waukegan thanks to everyone.
