Waukegan, IL. – El Distrito de Parques de Waukegan será el anfitrión de la Novena Carrera/Caminata Anual George Bridges 5K el sábado 14 de septiembre de 2024 a las 9 a.m. en Hinkston Park, ubicado en 810 Baldwin Avenue. En su noveno año, el evento tendrá una temática de superhéroes.
Por una tarifa de inscripción de $34, los participantes recibirán un paquete de carrera y una camiseta conmemorativa de la carrera. Todas las ganancias de la Novena Carrera/Caminata Anual George Bridges 5K beneficiarán a los Servicios de Recreación Especial del Condado de Northern Lake-Waukegan, ayudando a las personas con discapacidades a participar en campamentos, atletismo, programas de salud y acondicionamiento físico, y mucho más.
La Novena Carrera/Caminata Anual George Bridges 5K contará con una carrera gratuita para niños antes de la ceremonia de premiación para fomentar la actividad física entre los niños. La carrera para niños es una oportunidad para que los niños de 5 a 13 años compitan en una carrera corta y divertida.
Durante todo el evento se ofrecerán actividades con temática de superhéroes, que incluyen la decoración de máscaras y capas.
Se otorgarán medallas a la mejor mujer, al mejor hombre y a los tres primeros puestos femeninos y masculinos en las siguientes categorías de edad: 14 años o menos, 15 a 19 años, 20 a 24 años, 25 a 29 años, 30 a 34 años, 35 a 39 años, 40 a 44 años, 45 a 49 años, 50 a 54 años, 55 a 59 años, 60 a 64 años, 65 a 69 años, 70 a 74 años, 75 a 79 años, 80 años o más.
La novena carrera/caminata anual George Bridges 5K está patrocinada por American Place Casino, la alcaldesa de Waukegan Ann B. Taylor, AB Specialty Silicones, Iskalis’ American Floor Show, Team Pimentel at Compass, Toluca’s Restaurant, The Quonset Pizza y American Outfitters LTD.

9th Annual George Bridges 5K Run
The Waukegan Park District is hosting the 9th Annual George Bridges 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at 9am at Hinkston Park, located at 810 Baldwin Avenue. In its ninth year, the event will have a superhero theme.
For an entry fee of $34, participants will receive a race packet and a commemorative race shirt. All proceeds from the 9th Annual George Bridges 5K Run/Walk will benefit Special Recreation Services of Northern Lake County – Waukegan, helping individuals with disabilities participate in camps, athletics, health and fitness programs, and much more.
The 9th Annual George Bridges 5K Run/Walk will feature a free kids race before the awards ceremony to encourage physical activity among children. The kids race is an opportunity for children from 5 years to 13 years to compete in a short fun run. Superhero-themed activities, including mask and cape decorating, will be offered throughout the event.
Medals will be awarded to the top overall female, top overall male, and top three females and males in the following age categories: 14 years and younger, 15 years to 19 years, 20 years to 24 years, 25 years to 29 years, 30 years to 34 years, 35 years to 39 years, 40 years to 44 years, 45 years to 49 years, 50 years to 54 years, 55 years to 59 years, 60 years to 64 years, 65 years to 69 years, 70 years to 74 years, 75 years to 79 years, 80 years and older.
