Mundelein, IL.- Kerrith Whyte, jugador de los Chicago Bears, estuvo en Mundelein High School el martes 12 de noviembre para ayudar a recolectar y clasificar artículos para el nuevo Centro de Bienvenida que abrió recientemente en el Edificio de Oficinas del Distrito 120.
Whyte, junto con miembros del Club Helping Heroes of America en MHS, recolectó los artículos en la escuela secundaria y los trasladó al Centro de bienvenida. Allí, clasificaron los artículos y almacenaron los estantes con las nuevas donaciones. Todo esto fue parte de la campaña de sombreros y guantes del MHS Booster Club que se inició recientemente.
Mientras estaba en MHS, Whyte también recorrió las instalaciones de la escuela secundaria y pasó tiempo con algunos de los equipos deportivos de MHS.
El Centro de bienvenida ofrece ropa, comida y otros artículos gratuitos a quienes los necesitan. Está abierto de 9:15 a 10:45 a.m. todos los miércoles y viernes. Los artículos más necesarios ahora, además de sombreros y guantes, son ropa interior, sostenes y calcetines nuevos, así como ropa para niños (de niño a adolescente), abrigos para niños, pantalones para la nieve, zapatos de gimnasia y botas de invierno.
“Estamos extremadamente agradecidos con los Chicago Bears y especialmente con Kerrith Whyte por ayudar a promover este proyecto escolar/comunitario muy importante para ayudar a los residentes del área de Mundelein”, dijo Tracey Carlson, coordinadora de pruebas de MHS, entrenadora de gimnasia y coordinadora del evento.
Chicago Bear assists with collections
Kerrith Whyte of the Chicago Bears was at Mundelein High School Tuesday, Nov. 12 to assist with collecting and sorting items for the new Welcome Center that recently opened at the District 120 Office Building. Whyte, along with members of the Helping Heroes of America Club at MHS, collected the items at the high school and moved them to the Welcome Center. There, they sorted the items and stocked the shelves with the newest donations. This was all part of the MHS Booster Club’s hat and gloves drive which was recently begun.
While at MHS, Whyte also toured the facilities at the high school and spent time with some of the MHS athletic teams.
The Welcome Center provides free clothing, food and other items to those who need them. It is open from 9:15 to 10:45 a.m. every Wednesday and Friday. The most needed items now, in addition to hats and gloves, are brand new underwear, bras and socks as well as gently used boys (toddler to teen) clothing, children’s coats, snow pants, gym shoes and winter boots.
“We’re extremely grateful to the Chicago Bears and especially Kerrith Whyte for helping to promote this very important school/community project to help residents of the Mundelein area,” said Tracey Carlson, MHS test coordinator, gymnastics coach and coordinator of the event.
