Dear Friends,
Congress is back in session this week after last week’s “District Work Period”. I had the privilege of spending a lot of my week at home with some amazing young people throughout our communities. I visited Thomas Jefferson Middle and Cristo Rey High School in Waukegan, met with the NYAN robotics team from Carmel Catholic in Mundelein, hosted a roundtable with DACA recipients in North Chicago, and was the guest reader at Waukegan Library’s Storytime. But by far the biggest events of the week were the two “Brad’s Bookworms” celebrations recognizing elementary students who completed the challenge of reading 10 books with the help of family since the start of the school year.

El Congreso está de vuelta en sesión esta semana después del “Período de Trabajo del Distrito” de la semana pasada. Tuve el privilegio de pasar gran parte de mi semana en casa con algunos jóvenes increíbles en todas nuestras comunidades. Visité Thomas Jefferson Middle y Cristo Rey High School en Waukegan; me reuní con el equipo de robótica de NYAN de Carmel Catholic en Mundelein; organicé una mesa redonda con beneficiarios de DACA en el norte de Chicago y fui el lector invitado en la Biblioteca de Waukegan. Pero, con mucho, los eventos más importantes de la semana fueron las dos celebraciones de “Ratones de biblioteca de Brad” que reconocen a los estudiantes de primaria que completaron el desafío de leer 10 libros con la ayuda de la familia desde el comienzo del año escolar.
