Waukegan, IL. – La Oficina Administrativa de los Tribunales de Illinois ha informado al Juez Presidente Daniel B. Shanes que diez abogados locales han presentado sus solicitudes para cubrir la vacante de Juez Asociado en el Decimonoveno Circuito Judicial.
Dicha vacante surge a raíz de la jubilación del Honorable Luis A. Berrones, Juez Asociado, efectiva a partir del 31 de julio de 2026, tras muchos años de servicio dedicado a los residentes del condado de Lake.
Los solicitantes son L. Kat Allen de Libertyville, Kevin J. Berrill de Lake Forest, Roderick A. Drobinski de Wauconda, Robert A. Money de Wadsworth, Sari W. Montgomery de Riverwoods, Terry A. Mueller de Lake Forest, Madeline Remish de Lake Forest, Ennedy D. Rivera de Highland Park, David M. Spada de Wauconda y Donald R. Tyer de Long Grove.
Durante las próximas semanas, los candidatos participarán en entrevistas con los jueces de circuito y serán evaluados por el Comité de Selección y Retención Judicial de la Asociación de Abogados del Condado de Lake.

El Tribunal acepta comentarios del público a lo largo de este periodo de evaluación. Una vez certificados los resultados, se notificará al Juez Presidente Shanes el nombre del candidato que haya obtenido la mayoría de los votos; dicha persona será nombrada e investida como Juez Asociado del Decimonoveno Circuito Judicial.

The Administrative Office of the Illinois Courts has informed Chief Judge Daniel B. Shanes that ten local attorneys submitted applications for the Associate Judge vacancy in the Nineteenth Judicial Circuit. The vacancy follows the retirement of the Honorable Luis A. Berrones, Associate Judge, effective July 31, 2026, after many years of dedicated service to the residents of Lake County.
The applicants are L. Kat Allen of Libertyville, Kevin J. Berrill of Lake Forest, Roderick A. Drobinski of Wauconda, Robert A. Money of Wadsworth, Sari W. Montgomery of Riverwoods, Terry A. Mueller of Lake Forest, Madeline Remish of Lake Forest, Ennedy D. Rivera of Highland Park, David M. Spada of Wauconda, and Donald R. Tyer of Long Grove.
Over the coming weeks, the candidates will participate in interviews with the circuit judges and be evaluated by the Lake County Bar Association’s Judicial Selection and Retention Committee. As part of that process, the Bar Association will also survey its membership regarding each applicant’s qualifications, temperament, and professional experience.
The Court welcomes public comment throughout this evaluation period. Written comments may be submitted to the Office of the Chief Judge, Lake County Courthouse, 18 N. County Street, Waukegan, Illinois 60085-4359, and will be accepted through July 1, 2026.
Following the completion of interviews, evaluations, and review of public comments, the circuit judges’ nominating committee will select two finalists for consideration. Each circuit judge of the Nineteenth Judicial Circuit will then cast ballots, with the votes submitted to the Administrative Office of the Illinois Courts in Springfield for tabulation. Once the results are certified, Chief Judge Shanes will be notified of the candidate receiving a majority of the votes, and that individual will be appointed and installed as an Associate Judge of the Nineteenth Judicial Circuit.
