Gurnee, IL. – El 1 de enero de 2023, aproximadamente a las 8:50 p. m., oficiales de policía de esta ciudad, patrullaban cerca de Old Grand Avenue y Depot Road. Los oficiales vieron un sedán Chevy blanco que viajaba a gran velocidad al oeste en Old Grand Avenue. El vehículo giró hacia el norte en Depot Road y los oficiales intentaron detenerlo activando sus luces de emergencia.
El Chevy aceleró y ya no era visible para los oficiales mientras continuaban hacia el norte por Depot Road. Los oficiales de Gurnee no persiguieron el vehículo y apagaron las luces de emergencia.
Los oficiales continuaron hacia el norte por Depot Road y notaron que el Chevy blanco se había estrellado y estaba recostado contra un edificio ubicado en 1300 Skokie Highway. El Departamento de Bomberos de Gurnee ayudó a sacar a dos ocupantes del vehículo, una mujer de 27 años de Winthrop Harbor y un hombre de 26 años de North Chicago. La mujer fue transportada al Centro Médico Vista – Este (Waukegan), y el hombre fue transportado al Centro Médico Advocate Condell (Libertyville) con lesiones que no parecen poner en peligro su vida.

Speeding vehicle crashes
On January 1, 2023, at approximately 8:50 PM, Gurnee officers were on patrol in a marked squad car near Old Grand Avenue and Depot Road. Officers witnessed a white Chevy sedan traveling at a high rate of speed as it traveled westbound on Old Grand Avenue. The vehicle turned northbound on Depot Road, and officers attempted to make a traffic stop by activating their emergency lights. The Chevy accelerated and was no longer visible by officers as they continued northbound on Depot Road. Gurnee officers did not pursue the vehicle and turned off their emergency lights.
The officers continued northbound on Depot Road and noticed the white Chevy had crashed and was lying on its side against a building located at 1300 Skokie Highway. The Gurnee Fire Department assisted with extricating two occupants from the vehicle, a 27-year-old female from Winthrop Harbor and a 26-year-old male from North Chicago. The female was transported to Vista Medical Center – East (Waukegan), and the male was transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center (Libertyville) with injuries that do not appear to be life-threatening.
