¡No estás solo!

“- Helpguide.org

September is National Suicide Prevention Month
Sharing information about suicide prevention will decrease the risk of people committing suicide. Talk saves lives!
Do you know? Lake County residents with depression are 10 times more likely to consider suicide. Currently, suicide is the number 10 cause of death in Lake County. In addition, 9 of 10 people who die by suicide have a mental health condition contributing to their death. The mental health condition most associated with suicide is depression. You are not alone!

Do you know the warning signs?
Watch out for these signs of suicide: Excessive sadness or moodiness, hopelessness, sleep problems, sudden calmness, withdrawal, changes in personality and/or appearance, dangerous or self-harmful behavior, recent trauma or life crisis, making preparations such as putting his or her personal business in order, and threating to complete suicide.

What do to?
If you’re concerned about someone, talk to them. Ask “Are you thinking about suicide?” Let them know help is available and assist them in getting help if they need it. “A suicidal person may not ask for help, but that doesn’t mean that help isn’t wanted. People who take their lives don’t want to die—they just want to stop hurting. Suicide prevention starts with recognizing the warning signs and taking them seriously. If you think a friend or family member is considering suicide, you might be afraid to bring up the subject. But talking openly about suicidal thoughts and feelings can save a life.”- Helpguide.org
