Zion, IL. – East Eagles continue to soar for success and reach their growth targets with the help of East’s staff. Nina Adams, East’s resource teacher for 4th-6th graders, has created an educational version of Monopoly called “I Can-opoly.”
This innovative and growth driven board works to plan out weekly goals for her students, but also serves as a motivational tool for them to feel more confident in their yearly goals. Every month, Ms. Adams creates weekly goals for each of her students based off their end goal.
If a student has reached 3 of their 4 goals, they take part in the “Chance” celebration and win a prize for meeting their goals. If students are having a hard time meeting their goal, or are surpassing the set goal, Ms. Adams adjusts the next target accordingly.
When students enter the room, they immediately check their folder to see what the next skill is and how they are doing. For Ms. Adams’ students, “I Can-opoly” has become one of the best motivational and instructional target tools used to help them reach yearly goals.
