Christopher Thompson Promoted to Deputy Chief

Waukegan, IL. – Sheriff John Idleburg is pleased to announce the promotion of Lieutenant Christopher Thompson to the rank of Deputy Chief, effective today.
Christopher began his career with the Lake County Sheriff’s Office in 1996. As a Deputy, Christopher served in the Court Security Division, Highway Patrol Division, and Criminal Investigations Division as an undercover detective assigned to the Lake County Metropolitan Enforcement Group (MEG).
In 2002, Christopher was promoted to the rank of Sergeant. As a Sergeant he supervised the Highway Patrol Division before being transferred to the Administration Division, where he oversaw the Records Section, served as the Public Information Officer, and Internal Affairs Investigator.
In 2010, Christopher was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and continued with his Administration Division responsibilities, and also was assigned to oversee the Civil Process Division. In 2012, Christopher transferred to and was responsible for the Court Security Division. In 2013, he transferred to the Highway Patrol Division and served as a Shift Commander.
In his role as Deputy Chief, Christopher will oversee the Highway Patrol Division, which is the largest enforcement-division in the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
